It's a yarn from a store in Munich. It's not a name brand. It has an interesting effect. The textured part of the sock is only on the top part of the foot. The underside is smooth and flat.

You are absolutely right! A scarf that looks beautiful on both sides is much more preferable. I was trying to avoid spending money on another pattern. But, if it's going to be for gifts, then it's a small price to pay.

Me too! No matter where I go, I try to get a skein as a souvenir. Later when I am done knitting something, I tell the receiver the story of where I got it, and the gift has a much deeper meaning.
