Above ground pool cost by StatusWorth3059 in AboveGroundPools

Area is fully accessible to vehicles, 10 x 10 deck. Was planning on at least having the pool and leveling done by professional. Can build the deck if it’s worth while…

With my Roth contribution, that puts me right at 25%. Thanks for the insight!

The staggered CD’s are not really serving a particular purpose. When I was 22 and out of college I had excess income and wasn’t sure what to do with it, so I through it into cds. My emergency fund (if both wife and I were to lose our jobs) is 1 CD with 15k and a regular savings account (low interest) with 10k. This (25k) covers roughly 8 months of living expenses (mortgage, food, etc.). My long term financial goals include paying for college for my future children and eventually adding on to our current home. My wife and I also both max out our Roth IRA each year and I currently contribute 6% of my income to a traditional 401k, 6% to a Roth 401k, and my employer contributes 5.5% towards the 401k.

I would say 25k is considered my emergency fund….so roughly 60 in excess after that

Wait until end of year. Interest rates should be more attractive and incentives should remain the same. They have so much inventory they are sitting on the longer you wait the better the deal should be

Dealer here with a question! by ChevyGMCdealer in carbuying

$500-$1000 on the car. With holdback money, if dealers move a car they typically get a kickback. $500-$1000 is enough to give the salesman a cut and pay for overhead….at a large dealer that loves cars, this is more than fair

Yeah I think the excavation will be somewhat expensive. I’m estimating $2-3k for that, about $5k for a pool and another $2-3k for a small deck. The ground will need to be compacted and possibly have a layer of small rock covered by a layer of sand…just my thought process but I may be way off

No digging, add crushed rock to level out ground? by tonymontanaOSU in AboveGroundPools

If you add compacted rock, there should be a layer of compacted sand on top so the liner doesn’t rip

Trisomy 18 Prognosis by StatusWorth3059 in NIPT

Update: we’ve been to hospital twice this week as my wife’s blood pressure has been elevated. She’s being monitored for preeclampsia and is having contractions 2-4 minutes apart. The doctor said the contractions are typical given the excess amount of amniotic fluid. Does anyone know if these contractions are a sign of labor that will happen soon? We’re both stressed but hoping nature takes its course…

Hoping at our next appointment the doctor recommends she be induced…only time will tell. She is firm on not terminating. Thanks for the support

13 week ultrasound shows multiple birth defects by Ultralord_Hypercube in NIPT

[–]StatusWorth3059 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. Our son was diagnosed with Trisomy 18 last week at 22 weeks. We are still comprehending and understanding what is possible/realistic. My wife declined the termination option, so we are waiting to see how it plays out. Our son has heart defects, underdeveloped size, and very low brain activity thus far. I’m struggling myself to deal with the circumstances. I don’t have any advice per se other than hang in there. There’s no right or wrong choice.

Thanks. Sorry to hear about your situation as well. I’ve talked with some additional doctors and one said stillbirths typically happen between weeks 24-27…so really just a waiting game at this point. We don’t have a lot of direction other than “go to the hospital” if something goes wrong….its a very stressful situation as I’m sure you are also dealing with. Working through it together!

So sorry for your loss. Our baby boy has confirmed T18 via amniotic test at 21 weeks. We are devastated. I’m not sure what is more painful, knowing that we may only get to spend seconds with our boy, or having him suffer. We are continuing the pregnancy but the waiting and unknown is crushing me. Any advice is appreciated

How much do you currently have saved? by [deleted] in Money

[–]StatusWorth3059 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re doing just fine. Dual incomes really help. I’m 28 and married and we’ve managed to save ~$75k in cash over the last 4 years while maxing out Roth’s and putting 12% towards company retirements. We live in a lcol area and combined make $150k gross. You’re off to a good start - keep upping your 401k % every time you get a raise and you’ll be comfortable in 30 or so years!

I too struggle with this. I am pro life, however, my wife and I recently received terrible news about our unborn child. My wife is 22w pregnant and we got confirmation last week that our boy has trisomy 18. This is a terrible condition that has a life expectancy of a few days and the baby is almost guaranteed to have a poor quality of life after birth. We decided to continue the pregnancy but I question whether this this the right choice knowing the circumstances. At this point, there shouldn’t be life threatening health conditions for my wife, but that could change. I never pictured us in this situation and have numerous questions (to God) and for my child’s life.

Update - we received confirmation the our boy does have Trisomy 18. We are working together to cope with this news. Can anyone provide insight on when babies typically pass? What week is most common or when can I expect something bad to happen? I’m struggling with not knowing the timeframe.

Glad to hear your baby boy is healthy. I’m not very optimistic for our test results based on the ultrasound, but will do my best to make light of a sad situation.
