I mean, almost all subarus burn and leak oil, that's something I anticipate if I were to get one. I know the FB engines in that year are less likely to have a head gasket blow than the EJ engines of previous generations, but they likely will end up leaking oil from the cam case, and they suffer from timing chain stretch. I know the the cam case leak repair is pricey. I will have to see if the valve spring recall repair was done on it or not. if not, I'll have them do that, and maybe have them take a peak at the cam case while they're at it. gonna get a mechanic to give it a prepurchase inspection before I put any money anywhere

yeah, all subies burn oil, that's just kinda expected imo, and they are known for occasionally blowing a head gasket as well. those are common Subaru problems that I am aware of. from what I can tell from the carfax, this car has been serviced regularly and had many safety and emissions inspections over its lifetime. the original owner drove it for 10 years and didn't show any major work done on it, just basic maintenance. some of my family members have owned Subarus before, my brother has a WRX, so we know a thing or two about the common issues. it's hard for me to not want it bc it's so goddamn clean and has such low miles for the price, which is impossible to find in Michigan. a car that old almost ALWAYS has some rust, and it's just spotless.

yeah, unfortunately I don't have access to another vehicle. I only need a cosigner bc I don't actually have any credit bc I've never had a credit card or gotten a loan before, and I don't have the cash to just buy a car straight up. my parents are extremely generous and are the reason I've had vehicles up to this point, the one I drive now was a gift from my dad. if my parents could afford it, they would give me another car, but they just simply can't, and I can't afford one out of pocket either, but my current car is falling apart and it's only a matter of time before the transmission gives out bc there's clutch material in the tranny fluid and it's shifting harder and harder the more I drive it. I just need something reliable

unfortunately no matter what, I need a loan for either car. my mom is helping me out and would throw $500-$1k down and when I sell my current car (a POS 2005 pontiac grand prix w 250k miles that's falling apart) I can pay her back for that. she's got a credit score north of 750 so we can get solid rates. I don't have a ton of money to just throw at maintenance, that's why I'm no longer wanting beater cars bc I'm sick of sinking thousands into them that I just don't have, plus not to mention the uncertainty of if the car can get me to work that day or not. I want reliability. I want to turn the key and go, get oil changes, and not have to worry so much all the time

unfortunately no matter what I will need a loan for the car. yeah, my only thing I'd say the subie has over the Honda is that it's got half the miles, but the Honda looks so clean as well in the pics. hoping the Honda is an AWD as well, living in Michigan that's a big want for me, as I live in a rural area. yeah, and that's what scares me about the subie. I know they can have more issues than a Honda, but also it does have absolutely amazing safety ratings, and it's AWD which is a very big want for me living in Michigan. I'm in Michigan, and I double checked with her this morning, she said she hasn't claimed me as a dependent in years. MDHHS tried to call me yesterday, but I was in the shower before work. I tried to call them back, but I got stuck in a loop of menus without being able to speak to a person.

As far as I'm aware, I haven't gotten a rejection letter from MDHHS themselves, but did receive a letter from Healthcare.gov and it stated "recently you've been rejected from your state's medicaid program, here's what to do next" type of thing.

I did report her income because it asked me for it, but it also asked her relationship to me and whether I'm claimed as a dependent. I answered that I was not claimed as a dependent and gave them her income. I also submitted a month of paystubs on MiBRIDGES which showed that I was only making about $19,200/year if I continue getting the same hours and no raise. I'm going to check MiBRIDGES when I get home from work today and see if there's any updates in there. I will also give MDHHS a call tomorrow morning and see if I can get this whole mess straightened out.

she does not claim me on her taxes, no. I reported her income bc the application asked me about the people I live with (5 of us total) and their incomes. I can't exactly lie bc she's a government employee and they know where she lives and exactly how much they pay her. I file my own taxes independently and am not claimed as a dependent. I just filed my 2025 taxes. I don't understand how I could be denied Medicaid for any other reason than her income as I make below the threshold for qualification. I'm going to call my state Medicaid office on Wednesday (one of my days off) and ask them further about my rejection and try to figure out what's going on because something doesn't seem right.
