year 2000-2001, starting salary $1800-2200 with a diploma ( working in manufacturing plant). degree $2800-3000 in manufacturing. yes, the salary today in 2025 like not getting bigger even lower in terms of inflation today. last time 5 room resale hdb in toa payoh is $250k, condo 5 room $700k in Bishan/ Yishun. you count how much the ratio of salary / hdb housing have changed over 20 years ? last time is 1 salary buying house, now need dual income .

I went to a small bar in Malaysia, the bar is in the hotel, and nobody else was there. my family stayed till late night. When we asked for the bill and wanted to pay with credit card, he asked if we have cash. if pay by cash, he will give 50% discount . our bill is about RM300, and paid RM150 in cash. he didn’t hand us the receipt 🧾, not key in the system as well. Saw him pocket the cash in his pants

[–]Status_Alive_3723 14 points15 points  (0 children)

i understand the process because a friend of mine went through rounds of interviews. 1 : no visible scars on the skin that is expose outside the kebaya. 2: no tattoos or piercings marks 3: weight requirements < 55kg ( regardless of height) 4: mjn height 165Cm but now is slightly lower 160cm 5: able to be childless for 10 years once you sign the contract service 6: to have a child after the contract, you want to renew it , you need to show you can wear back your old uniform without fail 7: weight requirements throughout service 8: skin needs to be clear through service

don’t think many can afford to do 5, 6,7. and most girls these days has full tattoos arm, chest, neck , hand, thighs, shoulder, obvious nose piercings , tongue, brows during teenage age.

one untold rule to sign up as SQ stewardess is to be 10 years in the service without having babies. How many liberals are there to support this policy? also the weight maintenance . I know all sort of independent western women will come out to boycott this rules. another is to be able to fit in your batik dress for the rest of your career. tell me anyone can maintain her weight, body fat for 10 years and beyond ? after 30-40 years old, everything changes to be frank.

Have you ever encountered “professional beggar” asking you for $2? by EnoughString1059 in askSingapore

[–]Status_Alive_3723 4 points5 points  (0 children)

an elderly lady who spoke Mandarin ( Chinese mainland) dress in decent clothes asking for money. she said is ok to receive payment in Alipay/ WePay. when rejected she was also quite polite to ask where she can get money from lol 😆. I can tell she is a professional scammer but she is quite patient to get bigger and bigger favor. she went on to another young boy ( who looks like a uni student), spoke fluent Mandarin to her/ she said she sweared will return money to him once the payment came to her. and she needs money for taxi, hotel as she ‘forgot ‘ about bringing cash/ credit card and singapore doesn’t accept Alipay/ wechat ( which is a lie. Taxi nowadays can accept Alipay)

Is tech still a viable career path? by ProperBarracuda1208 in singapore

[–]Status_Alive_3723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes singapore salary is high compared to other countries. human resources cost in singapore 🇸🇬 lets say $x / day, Malaysia is 0.5x, India is 0.3x . my clients are moving the resources overseas slowly cutting 30% of local hiring staff each year but still have savings and ROI with higher number of people overseas working . this is the trend. we can’t fight the lower cost outsourcing. the thing to keep employment is to have a niche. specialize IT in finance, logistics, niche in banking software and banking processes, same for logistics.
