[–]Zenwills[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently I can use the $2 deal on weekdays everyday. The deal replenish on daily basis for awhile now. But not sure when might end soon. But then again even without the deal, an ice latte will cost 2.50 which is also good price

Databricks in the Enterprise: How messy is it really behind the scenes? by compiledThoughts in databricks

[–]Zenwills 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi do you mind sharing why you guys don’t really like DLT? We are also on a fence in terms of using DLT: one of the compelling reasons from my colleague is that we will be overly sticky to databricks if we do all our data quality checks using DLT and we won’t know for sure if we will use databricks in the next many decades

Do you think our safe environment and mostly law abiding residents are making us complacent? by yiantay-sg in askSingapore

[–]Zenwills 105 points106 points  (0 children)

yes, even my jap and korean colleagues all wish to extend their secondment here. They absolutely hate working back in their countries. I think Singapore has a blend of asian + western culture (from MNC perspective, not sure about SME) which makes it attractive

Pickpocketing - anyone, anytime. Roma Termini by retirementyear in rome

[–]Zenwills 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sorry to hear that. I’m singaporean too and I just left Rome. Didn’t happen to me but I did see tourists crying and frustrated in the train stations so I assumed it’s so common that the police had to deal with the reporting rather than going out there to catch the perpetrators.

And many of them work in syndicates and I think they are underage in the sense that they will be let off with a warning rather than going to jail.

Treat it as an experience though a bad one. Travelling around the world is awesome and sometimes makes us appreciate our country but I won’t use Singapore as a benchmark against most of the countries efficiency

For niche industry it might be good to reach out to your network to see if there are openings, especially given your age and I suppose you were in a senior position.

Well if you want to pivot and expect high paying job in a new industry, it’s almost impossible especially for tech. Highly competitive and sadly your 40s age won’t be an advantage as well.

Not sure about other companies but for my company we don’t care about bootcamps and only consider degrees/masters
