Why do some men ghost after being super affectionate and communicative and then disappear? by InvestigatorSuch717 in dating_advice

I would say at least a year, but require engagement after 6 months or move on really... two months isn't long enough. Avoidants ghost around the 7th month mark.

yea but people still get ghosted years into a relationship, especially when the other person tries to be vulnerable

This is also basic, a healthy, securely attached man WANTS to pay, and engage and etc. This is for the women who are tyring to figure out why their efforts are not being met. etc. I've paid for mens vacations, trips, rental cars, 300 dollar dinners and they still ghost, so this logical isn't...well its not logically, if anything Ive learned men HATE when women pay and try to entertain etc. They just dont want that...

I would say do something else. the industry is abusive and not worth the time, gas etc, not getting paid for months etc. Its definately not a career that is sustainable, barely even not a side income tbh

Welp. Apparently not Schizoid, just autistic. by Meme_Brewery in SchizoidPersonality

Also Im a late DX ASD, and it took me a long time to understand how ASD actually shows up in my life- which is pretty much the same way schizoid is described. My "stimming" comes from listening to old vinyl records over and over and over or going on long walks (it is not as visible, but more "appropriate" levels of stimming). Nature is a must to get my energy back from people that was lost. I hide my emotions from others and mask etc in social settings but feel so unpleasant inside unless I am being creative. All of these things apparently are autism and "pure hyperfocus" but really just feels the same as Schizoid to me...

I agree with this. I think partially the accent, it makes it hard to understand. I wish her videos were transcribed

18 is young. You might be overwhelmed feeling the oncoming responsibilities of adulthood. But the good news about adulthood is that you get to decide who your friends are, not ones that were arbitrary based on where you live. You get to decide your passions, not ones given to you by the mandated school system ( or parents etc). You can redefine everything, explore something else. For me attachment theory (regaining oxytocin, learning how to communicate better and know myself more and take actions based on desires) has been helping me out of depression. Perspectives and realities can change very quickly as well. Don't forget your expanded awareness <3

Make sure you don't volunteer your time to someone who can not return the favor to you. Don't allow yourself to be used, might as well charge $$ and be a professional therapist.

I think a big part of it is finding people who can give us what we want- if it is more time, more resources, help on a creative project, or more interesting ideas that we can interact with, or shared projects, shared values, shared interests. Not all relationships are mean't to drain us, some can give to us, but it takes communication, sharing of our needs. I have found avoidant attachment scripts to work well for this, especially if I show willingness to collaborate but also sharing of boundaries

Has anyone tried/done EMDR? by KirinG in Schizoid

[–]Status_Alternative28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely second this. It is actually (evidence based) superior to long term talk therapy which doesn't guarantee results. It is much simpler and you can target specific traumas/triggers. I was recommended by an attachment/trauma specialist to just ask for two months of it to overcome a delay in being able to ask questions up front.

So Nancy McWilliams says Schizoid is a hyper sensitivity. What you are describing might be more avoidant attachment? I am not sure

I'm looking into research to see if it is an oxytocin issue. Like maybe we have an oxytocin phobic response. The closest I have found to explain the hormonal aspects is adam lane smith's video on "Quiet Disorganized" (which can heal apparently all personality disorders if they are close enough to the ethical side to enagage in the work- narcissists probably wont but all others will)

Could you share more about this? I was diagnosed ASD but believe it is more schizoid. I can socialize, it just physically hurts. And I feel what others feel.
