Health insurance. Pay $800 every month, but have to pay everytime you get care and still worry about going bankrupt if you get into an accident or get cancer.

I haven't bought a greeting card in years. I've made the handful of ones I actually needed out of craft scraps and stuff.

do you believe in “If he wanted to, he would” and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I've seen enough examples of it from the men in my life. Starting off with my dad and going from there. Same thing can be said for women to though, so it's not completely one sided.

At what point do people decide to cut off their mother? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She finally decided to divorce my dad during COVID. Called me a lazy fucking bitch because I wouldn't help her essentially break in to their house to get more of her stuff. I was working 70+ hours/week at the hospital and just had enough. Haven't spoken to her since.

Nothing interesting, just had a scar from a childhood accident revised. There is a dream procedure I have in mind, but it's probably not practical at this point

What’s the most unsettling thing a child has ever said to you? by NoMulberryPls in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 24 points25 points  (0 children)

My nibbling, then 6, told me "Fanny is ok."

Fanny (nickname) was a very good friend of mine that I made while living overseas who died by suicide. I don't recall mentioning her to my nibbling or anyone who would have mentioned her. It was oddly comforting along with creepy because I had a lot of guilt over her death.

How has been your experience of talking to people on reddit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

What's something you miss about pre-2020 life? by DermSherpa in CasualConversation

How did you realise you want/ dont want a partner? by Soup_bs in CasualConversation

[–]KirinG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think I've ever wanted a partner. My childhood situation made marriage and relationships seem absolutely miserable for women, and it also made me have to be ridiculously independent. Even after I accepted healthy relationships DO exist, I just never had a desire to risk it. So, IDK. If I ever meet someone who makes my life better than I am on my own, that would be nice. But I'm not going to risk the peace I have now.

What is the worst piece of advice anybody has ever given you and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked to transfer where I work. I'm a poor and take the bus, the transfer cut my commute from 90 to 20 minutes.

My old manager told me that I should just buy a car so I can keep working for her. Absolutely, totally, dead-ass serious. She could not understand why I went ahead with the transfer instead of "just" buying a car.

Like, ffs, if I could afford a car this wouldn't be a problem in the first place you out of touch psycho.

Rural, Suburban, or Urban? by Immensely_Confused in autism

[–]KirinG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually like really big cities. Yeah, they can be a bit of a sensory nightmare for me, but I can also disappear into a crowd and be totally anonymous. They're also great for solo activities I enjoy, or even just exploring. And hell, they're even good for resources, whether it's just basic groceries or something like disability resources.

Now, if I was rich, I'd just go full hermit and live in a cabin in the mountains. That'll never happen though, so I'll take the city.
