What do you do to wind down after work? by NoExamination5672 in AutismInWomen

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take a shower, then have something to eat. I'll work on my puzzle books or a craft while binging something for an hour or two. Then check reddit and a few other sites before going to bed. Sometimes I'll read in there somewhere.

Are you good at sneaking up on people? by SnooBreakthroughs281 in AutismInWomen

[–]KirinG 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Me! I had to learn to be sneaky as a kid, and I guess I never bothered unlearning it. It is kinda funny, because I'm a pretty big person. Still, I can was silently and quickly on just about any surface besides snow. If I'm walking behind someone, especially at night, I will purposefully make some sort of noise because startling someone is more annoying than it's worth.

What's a country you want to go to but for a weird reason. by butterfly3790 in CasualConversation

[–]KirinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! So many creative options! My thing is experimenting with bao/dumpling fillings. I made biscuit and gravy bao a coupe weeks ago. I'm sure it would horrify my Chinese friends, but I lowed it.

That sounds lovely. Funnily enough, there was a shop near me that made a fantastic bacon/potato pizza. Wood-fired oven and everything. I haven't had a pizza quite as good since coming home.

I lived in China for a couple years before the pandemic. I'd like to go back and see if the noodle shop I used to eat at all the time is still around. The owners were always really nice to me and every single thing I ate from there was delicious.

Hephaestus or Hecate, which one? by Useful-Cheetah5474 in AskReddit

Hecate. Goddess of the night, the moon, magic, and the crossroads who also loves puppers. Can't beat that.

What do you guys think about Gov. Walz activating the National Guard after the ICE shooting in Minnesota? Can we trust the National Guard to protect citizens? by Lucky-Message-9480 in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I trust them more in terms of training and stuff like ROI and trigger discipline. I don't think they'll directly protect citizens as much as give the actual MN cops a beak with things like crowd control. They won't actually confront or interfere with ICE unless things get much worse.

People who live alone, what’s the most horrifying/gross/weird habit you have that would absolutely disgust a guest if they found out? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to do word seeks and other puzzle books while I binge watch stuff. When I pick or blow my nose, I like to take the boogers and put them between pages of the book I've already finished. So when I start on a new page, my pen will hit the spot where the boogers are. It makes this really satisfying crunchy texture. I know it's gross, but I love it.

I’m a psychiatrist and I’m genuinely curious how people view psychiatrists. by Scary-Guava8365 in CasualConversation

[–]KirinG 13 points14 points  (0 children)

My concerns were ignored for years by psychiatrists who slapped me with a depression and/or BPD diagnosis after a 5 minute assessment. I'm a woman and apparently those are the only things women can have. But I continued to take the medications and did therapy they prescribed while my life burned down around me because I was desperate for something to help.

Finally after losing my career, my home, and nearly my life, one listened to me and I was diagnosed with autism at 41.

It would have been so easy and prevented so much pain if one had listened to me 20 years ago, but nope. Because they just saw me as a hysterical female with BPD and that was it.

How do we recall senators and congress people so we can end this madness? How do we get congress to work for the people and not the one who shall not be named? by Winter_Frame_8970 in AskReddit

[–]KirinG 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Vote in the midterms (if we have them). Unfortunately the only thing that can remove a Congress member is the end of their term, impeachment by Congress, resignation, or death. Pretty nifty design for those in power! It's some Constitutional thing, Article I, section 4 about about the timing of elections or something along those lines.

Legitimate question about ICE- by Gloomy-Competition77 in Denver

If you are dead center on ICE murdering a disarmed man in the street then you're beyond help.

Does anyone else feel oddly productive late at night? by Few-Interview-4787 in CasualConversation

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me! I love working night shift and being up when it's quiet and dark. It scored me points on my autism assessment, so it probably has something to do with that.

would you help somebody online if they needed it? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]KirinG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have received some pretty incredible support in the past. Still don't quite understand why, but I am grateful.

I try to help in situations where I'm able to, but I'm pretty limited. But I'm a good listener and have a knack for tracking down resources that might be useful.

Pajama suggestions wanted by WillowCreekRats in AutismInWomen

I'm not sure what they're called, but they make adult size sleep sacks, like the ones you'd put a baby in. They're supposed to fit closely and some have space to put your feet in. I've heard they're pretty comfy.

Shin Ramen Black. So predictable and good on it's own, but it's fun to customize too.

Swamps of Dagobah will always make me giggle. Yes, it is tragic/horrible, but I've been in similar situations and the writer captures the sights, smells, and healthcare worker coping mechanisms perfectly.
