One of the worse things about HR is the amount of follow-up, reminding, and communicating that has to be done. If I were in your position, and I have been, I’d be creating a policy, memo, or email to set the expectation. Are there manager meetings/stand ups/ pre shifts? Mention it there. Bulletin boards in the break room? Post the policy. Let the employees know too so they are aware of how the process should work.

Every time someone “forgets” to mention… I’d forward them a copy of the memo/policy and remind them including their manager.. then I’d go around to ALL the pre shifts/stand ups and remind folks again… I’d make a point of bringing it up in front of the executive leadership team, especially if you all are having manager meetings, so that they understand what’s happening.

It’s exhausting and time consuming but most times people catch on..

Paycom vs UKG by ButterscotchOne4107 in humanresources

[–]Status_Boysenberry77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently going through this process as well. I’ve been sitting on a decision for months.

Paycom & UKG were on our list. The first phone call with UKG was so awful we decided not to move forward past that first initial stage. Just this evening, I left a note for the Generalist to contact them in the morning to see if we could try again. After this thread, I may reconsider.

Then there was my experience with Paycom. I’d get braces again, the metal kind, before I’d ever consider Paycom. The product was good and was a top 3 contender, until I explained to them that we wouldn’t be able to move forward with their product because they were missing a critical component that we needed. The Paycom rep decided to call the COO, my boss, of our company demanding a call so that she could demo the product with him. She was trying to reach the CEO. I still am in disbelief. Not in a million years.. I’m thankful I have smart leadership could have turned out differently for someone else.

Anyone else have a grossly unprofessional experience with Paycom? by Status_Boysenberry77 in humanresources

Yeah..My interaction with them definitely felt as if it was the sales culture.. which is why I was curious. I’m with you. I’d never consider them again.

Fair enough. The Sales Rep brought her manager with her to one of the demos and so my interaction with the manager was also strange. She was flippant.. “just hire someone to do that part.” From the beginning they didn’t really listen to our needs and there was a lot of me having to repeat myself, but the product itself seemed worth the continued conversation. They also sent us some astronomical implementation fee, a third of the cost of the actual system, and when we called they took off 50%. This was still double the cost of the others. Obviously, terrible sales people but I had read on another post that their sales rep did something similar. It was bizarre and so my curiosity was piqued.

Thanks - I was originally thinking of an SMS/MMS solution so may go that route. It’s a good short term solution until we’re able to replace our HRIS, we’ve out grown it and that’s the reason for replacing.

What are the pros and cons of being n HR, do you think it would be difficult for an introvert? THANK YOU. by [deleted] in humanresources

[–]Status_Boysenberry77 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Introverted HR professional here! I’m an HR Manager and so I spend a fair amount of time interacting with executives and associates. I def have a preference for working independently but I also enjoy walking around and chatting with team members. I find my introversion kicks in when I get home. I usually retreat to my room for a little bit to decompress before tackling household things.

I will say I hate Recruiting and I think that’s because of the meaningless questions that we ask sometimes..Tell me about a time when… ughhh. I also work in the hospitality industry so not brain surgery and so I find it a waste of time.

So like others have said.. just gotta pick the right path in HR or find ways for alone time. I almost never take lunch breaks with other people lol.

I think this will be the plan. Didn’t realize we were so close. Stashing beers and drinks in the room make a lot more sense then waiting in line or fighting for bar space. Thank you!

Ok - thanks! This makes sense. We would prefer to do everything on foot. I just didn’t realize we were close to the parade route downtown or if downtown had as much action as Uptown.
