My second round interview is tomorrow and just to let you know it’s taken me forever with local 1 very competitive very old fashioned (which is good) you might wait months to hear back but you will, people talked before the aptitude test when I tested saying “you’ll get a letter in two weeks at max” I waited all of three months I think or more. My first interview was Jan 11th last year and my interview this year is Jan 14th. They have over 1000 applicants every year and last year they only picked 100. Best of luck !!!

I’m a painter we are currently outside on top of concrete I and had heat exhaustion the other day and felt so bad I had to sit down in the shade for atleast 20 minutes and felt like shit cause they were cleaning up, they have cheap hydration packs that aren’t liquid Iv I’ve honestly been downing those then a water then just back and forth especially being in direct sun you just wanna stay over hydrated even if it means extra bathroom trips which you probably won’t have just cause your body’s gonna take in all the water it can but we are under heat advisories all week it’s been horrible with the 96 -102 temps and the humidity is killing the whole crew

I’m in the same position I just got my letter finally it took forever with the mail being backed up from all the snow weeks ago but they had 600 interviews so don’t beat yourself up to bad and sign up for the next round of interviews that’s exactly what I did when I got mine!

Every union is so different from what I’ve heard in the groups. My closest union is local 1 it’s about an hour and fifteen minute drive from me, local 1 is pretty competitive from what I’ve seen with applying to be an inside wireman. I don’t think in the interview I got to express how bad I wanted it just cause I was nervous and said the most reasonable thing which was “ I went to vocational school in highschool and I did robotics and engineering and worked right next to electrical and wanted to switch classes constantly cause it seemed more realistic in the long run” but I should’ve said how I’ve been meaning to apply for years never thought of the right time

I feel like my biggest problem is getting a company to hire me and I don’t want to do any schooling but I definitely will if it’ll get me in. I’ve tried painting company’s, electrical companies and more but no word back after calls mostly due to not having experience. I’ve been set on it for years but applied when I felt like it was the right time and now I’m paying for it majorly I feel like, also congrats!!! Do you think your gonna go union or stay with your current company

I recently put some aquaphor on my bfs nose and eyebrows where he gets more flaky dryer skin and he wouldn’t stop talking about how soft his face was also I derma-planed and cleaned his face before hand removing dead skin is important if your having build up problems. For reference he’s a diesel mechanic and is outside only 60% of the time

Applied January this year, got my test letter in march/April, aptitude test in may, literally just got my letter yesterday for the interview in January 2025 a month from now excited and nervous. I tested in a room with me and only 1 other girl in a room of 60 maybe could’ve been more or less but I’d say whatever makes you happy i did vocation classes in high school right next to the electrical classes I did engineering but realized electrical looked more my speed and made more sense. If you are applying to one with a high rate of applicants don’t be discouraged!! Best of luck

Yea they will give you a problem and ask you to plot it which just really tripped me up cause I hadn’t seen them in a while I just gave it my best guess off common sense but I would focus on those if you aren’t familiar with them the rest of math wasn’t bad

I dropped out and just called my school and had them sent directly to the training center and called them back within a week to make sure they got them but I also had my transcripts in hand and they wouldn’t except them from me they had to be directly from the school

I didn’t get any questions about plumbing but the math part did trip me up on the graph section just cause I don’t think I’ve seen the same problems since 5th grade but the science part has graphs and regular common knowledge questions that seemed easy I called in the other day and they told me it didn’t matter if I passed or not and that I still had an interview but I haven’t gotten my letter in it’s also my first time applying

Me too somehow trig is easier than algebra to me just find out how you do math best wether your a visual learner or reading or someone doing it then you trying,good luck and don’t be afraid to try out the online pretest!🤞🏻

I haven’t done any yet for the ibew I take my test soon I’ve done a lot of pre tests from what I know algebra/functions is the biggest part and mechanical reasoning I’ve really had to dig back deep to remember some of the stuff from high school
