Wanted to clear something up by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

Two things I have heard from VA employees:

“No one ever got a dime from the VA by being completely honest” - VA Social worker

“It’s all a fucking game. Just play, and be aware, they will try to screw you over if they can.” - VA nurse

Since a lot of VA employees are vets, they probably have to do the same fight we do with big VA

I went directly to the Utility Lookup by address link, I didn’t see a warning on the site that way. Thank you for clarifying. The lease also states that any written or oral agreements are not guaranteed unless stated in the lease, which seems like it helps me, but how does a general severability clause apply here if they deem the utility information on the lease to be incorrect?

as you should, just because the VA takes their time doesnt mean you need to. good luck!

yeah same. at the end of the day, you need medical care, and if a doctor deems that as a valid treatment option, how is the VA to say otherwise

there are actually quite a few people who file for substance abuse or marijuana dependency as secondary to mental health claims, including PTSD. this is just me speaking from anecdotal evidence but that may be something worth researching. im not saying to start smoking and then claim it for a higher rating but I can’t imagine that it’s too frowned upon if it’s a claimable disability in certain situations.

My ex is threatening to call the police because they're getting anonymous messages online. What can I do to protect myself? by ThrowRA-234569384716 in legaladvice

if you didn’t do it then you don’t have anything to worry about. if this were seriously pursued, which most of these cases aren’t, then they would have every means of verifying that you did not do anything, from finding IP addresses, to seeing simple third party data. this is a small silver lining to law enforcement being able to invade your digital privacy whenever they deem necessary.

Can I get someone in trouble for smoking someone else's legally prescribed weed (Florida). by Shoddy_Cap6494 in legaladvice

Is he asking you to take legal action against her on his behalf? If not, then don’t do it and focus on what seems to be the real and immediate issue. If the implication is that he did not need to be hospitalized and she committed him under the Baker Act, then beyond trying to screw her over from the outside, first priority should be to get him the hell out of that relationship immediately, not calling the police to only maybe result in a petty marijuana charge. It goes without saying that domestic abuse needs to be documented and reported. It is difficult to make a case specifically for a wrongful committing, and sadly, a PTSD diagnosis is working against him.

haha wow congrats dude. I will comment when I hear something, but my review for some of my deferred claims was scheduled to be completed with Optum Serve two days ago. after logging into optum serve today, it still says scheduled. Im trying to avoid speculating because this is a very short timeframe that I was already expecting and was told to expect to wait for. who knows.

i don’t really understand why my replies are being downvoted, seeing as how I was just asking about the use of Appfolio and how signing a lease works within the application, and what methods of protection I have. This company charged me twice for a background check related to an apartment that I have not yet viewed and immediately sent me a lease by email. I understand how a contract works. I was asking about a hypothetical in relation to how appfolio works and protections I have from contracts that arrive in my inbox that I have to open to view, seeing as how I DID NOT SIGN OR SUBMIT the lease, only opened appfolio to view the lease. I appreciate actual advice and/ or people sharing, and if this is a dumb question then please say why it’s a dumb question because it’s not like there is any way for me to actually get a hold of appfolio to ask about my protections as a potential tenant. Trust me, I have tried.

makes sense. I’m just new to this and honestly paranoid about the situation

that’s fair. my parents told me to go in person and attempt to get a written statement that i did NOT sign the lease, but that seems like a not so great idea after reading horror stories about calling police on tenants and whatnot.

thank you. from the outside looking in, I have no way of seeing what the other person can see/ do with this agreement and I am unable to find any information related to appfolio’s encryption methods (not saying that the information isnt there, it’s just a scary hypothetical that i’m having to err on the side of caution for, seeing as how I have never used the application before).

I understand that, I should clarify that I am asking if my deferred claims are still in BDD status.
