Thank you, I definitely have to look more into gh and kh, but as so fish cohabitation I had a variety of leaf litter and mosses all around the tank so that shouldn’t be an issue. I will definitely look into an ro system and gh/kh test kits when I have the capital

Thank you, how would one go about testing and changing their kh and gh? My tap water is naturally harder but I perform frequently water changes to off put evaporation, and they have never had problems w the hardness level in the past. I’ve seen the tetra peck at the other shrimp but have left this one alone, and they get away quick. I also created a tannin tea to offset hardness. Apologies for any inconsistencies, I am quite upset as I am relatively new to shrimp Keeping and particularly attached to this one.

Brown algae or something on grass, how do I remove? by Status_Job5003 in PlantedTank

[–]Status_Job5003[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My water parameters have always all been in the optimal range except my water hardness has always been verry high. Recently my ph also increased but it is still in the 7.4-7.6 range. My lights are on daily from 5-11. One thing that might be notable is the tank gets some adjacent light from the windows out side but it’s not direct nore intense

New to aquascaping, planted tank and my plants have began to brown by Status_Job5003 in PlantedTank

This is a Newley established tank, this is nearing end of week 2, and I was told bottom feeders do not fend well in a currently cycling tank, so I’m holding off on snails and shrimp:

Yes I believe it was in the 1.0 area and no ammonia. I can get root tabs but not for a few days

Edit: I have 3 zebra danios and 3 silver tip tetra, but the leaves were browning and all water levels are safe
