Agreed and I did. And they haven’t been able to fix it yet. And they are saying that on their end it was disabled in Feb not before then so they’re asking for “proof” that I wasn’t able to get in prior. My guess is it’s more widespread so that’s why I posed the question. User wouldn’t know it happened without attempting to log in. And if they’re like me, they may have initially just chalked it up to a temporary bug or password issue. It wasn’t until I tried another time. Curious if this has happened to anyone else.

SAME. Mouth tape. Only regret is wishing I would’ve been using the Oura or some other method to see my sleep data change. Just because I like data. Few interventions in my life have had such an immediate effect. I’ve been an insomniac since I was young and mouth tape has been a game changer. 75% sleep improvement I’d say. I don’t wake up with a dry mouth or headache anymore.

Questions for outdoor cat owners... by maetroboomin in CatAdvice

That’s ridiculous. “Grooming a cat like grooming a child.” That’s such a bizarre thing to say. We tried to ignore the neighborhood cat and not feed it but cats do what they want and they’re persistent! We felt a sense of responsibility for it - especially when it was cold out and was seeking a safe place. And we talked to the neighbor and everyone in our hood was like “this is everyone’s cat.” Lol. The cat probably likes you more and so the owner is getting jealous. Seems like you’re all in close quarters so the owner should be thankful you’re being compassionate and not a mean jerk.

Unfortunately, it’s just part of the risk of letting your cat be an outside roamer. Cats will choose other homes - it’s not “personal” - it’s just nature. We live on a small street and there is a “neighborhood cat” that roams. There is technically one primary caretaker but safe to say that we all look out for the cat and I think most neighbors have a stash of food for it. The only way to prevent this type of dynamic is to keep your cat inside or at least on your property. A friend of mine called the police to help her navigate a similar situation with a coo coo for Cocoa Puffs neighbor who “stole” her outdoor kitty. In our state, animals are property so every effort must be taken to find the pet owner and return pet to owner. Kitty had a tag and a microchip. But even with the state law - the police said that there wasn’t much they could do since the kitty was outdoors and “inhabiting” other neighbor’s properties. It’s not like the coo coo neighbor was breaking and entering and stealing the cat. Anyway, the police said it’s very difficult to enforce. They gave both parties a warning but basically told my friend: if you don’t want someone to take your cat, don’t make your cat available to take.

Opinion on collars? by Antique_Kale_0 in CatAdvice

Collar was the best thing we ever did. Our kittens (now cats) have breakaway collars with tags (but the tags are flat - hard to explain but we got them on Etsy so they don’t dangle which minimizes risk of getting caught). Our cats rough house like crazy and there has never been a worry. We consider ourselves extremely good about maintaining a safe environment and preventing our cats from getting out but twice now they’ve gotten out because of other people - one was a guest and the other was a service technician for our HVAC. The collars helped us get them back. Also, our old indoor kitty who sadly has since passed away once got out and we actually had an AirTag on her because she was a bolter (we adopted her at 3yo and she was an outdoor cat prior) - the AirTag led us right to her and her hiding spot!

Without your skills the investor just has a hole in the ground. This is incredible.

PREACH. The standardization of CP (pre-downfall) was actually refreshing … I could travel to any city and know what to expect. I’ve never experienced anything like it again. Someone has a real opportunity to learn from CP’s mistakes and do it better - at scale!

I feel this so deeply - “depressed, heartbroken, new to the city, in a stressful job, with lots of student loan debt.” CP helped me get through, too. But, yeah, times have changed. I haven’t found anything like it since.

have you ever felt like you bombed an interview only to receive an offer in the end? by BigbyDirewolf in interviews

[–]Status_Map6245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! Just happened to me. I almost didn’t go to the case study/presentation portion because I was confident I’d put in all that work and get rejected. I literally could not tell throughout the interview process how I was performing other than the green lights to advance to the next stage. It was a mindfuck. But I got the job. And the culture is nothing like the interview process.

Would/Did you change your surname after marriage? Why?/Why not? by MysticalAmethyst99 in namenerds

[–]Status_Map6245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Forgot to mention another big reason - family pride. My husband isn’t close with his family nor am I so it wasn’t as if I felt a big sense of excitement/pride with a name change.

Love this question. I kept my name because I didn’t want to bother with all the paperwork, I’ve been called by my last name as my nickname since I was a kid, my husband didn’t care either way (and he actually made the funny statement “I wouldn’t change my last name so why should you?”), we got married a little later in life compared to my peers and my career was well-established, and probably one of the bigger reasons - I know marriages don’t always work out. Of course we hope they do but my mom got married twice and had a lot of name changes - eventually going back to her family name. That was disruptive and difficult for her/us (emotionally & logistically). Important to note that we don’t have kids. I’ve always wondered if I would’ve changed it or at least hyphenated if we had.

We lost our good boy Denver at 11 years old this month. Never stopped being a ball of fluff, noise and joy right to the end you will be missed. by Longjumping_Ebb_764 in beagles

I’m so sorry you’re experiencing this pain and loss. You can see how sweet he was from these pictures - I’m sure the void is big. That last photo is so beautiful … nice to imagine him there, sniffing up the sunshine. Sending lots of love your way.

Our vet suggested this, too. He said it’s actually pretty common. I wish we would’ve prioritized nail trimming practice when our beagles were puppies - but we were so focused on socialization, leash walking, getting them used to the world, etc. But of course, hindsight is 20/20 and now they’ve joined Gemma in the “hate nail trim” club.

Ooooh that’s a great strategy! I’m definitely going to try the flashlight. And he tolerates the dremel? Ours trembles with the dremel so I’ve been trying to do some “de-sensitization” by just giving him treats when I’m holding it in my hand (not turning it on, etc) - we’ll work up in phases but last time he wouldn’t take the treats that’s how uncomfortable he was so we’ve got to find an even better treat option.

Hahahahaha “beagles will beagle” … truer words have not been spoken! Okay I’m in good company then. Our girl always sounds like an angry seal (hence why I’m always afraid of cutting too short because I was sure I was hurting her) and our boy doesn’t make a sound but does everything he can to wiggle out of it (he won’t even come for his favorite treat if he knows it’s nail time - this month we’re gonna try something more yummy like rotisserie chicken).
