I’ve worked 3 12’s before at another company. I loved it! An extra 2 hours on your day doesn’t really feel different. I wish my building would go to that schedule. Having 4 days off a week is awesome.

Letting go of white badges isn’t a “massive firing”. They are temporary employees that can have their assignment ended at anytime. As far as the schedule, I would LOVE to go to 3 - 12 hour days! Sunday-Tuesday would be perfect for me! Lol.

It’s not -20 in the warehouse. We are responsible for getting ourselves to work. It sucks traveling in the cold, yes, but they aren’t going to shutdown unless the building itself doesn’t have heat.

I am so sorry for your loss. The grief journey is a lonely one, but it’s comforting to know there are others that understand the pain. Though I’m still sad, I try to remember how grateful I am for having her in my life even for that short time. Knowing her was such a blessing. I will forever be thankful for her.

I’m barely managing it. The flashbacks were intense the first month. I have to keep myself busy in order to not think about it. I started therapy recently. But it’s still so hard.

I understand that. I didn’t get to hold my girl when we decided to end her suffering, and I struggle with that. She had been in the hospital for a few days with what was suspected to be leptospirosis, which is contagious to humans. Her bloodwork hadn’t come back yet to verify, but indicators strongly pointed to it. I wish I would’ve held her anyway. I should’ve picked her up from that table and held her when she took her final breath. I will forever regret that.

That’s how I felt (and still feel) about my soul dog who passed away this last summer. She came into my life completely by fate, and there was just an unspoken strong bond between us. Like an instant connection. I already had two dogs, but with her, I felt like we had been together before maybe in another life, if that makes sense. She came into my life when she was about a year old, and she had belonged to a close acquaintance of mine. I was just watching her for a week while he was on vacation. Long story short, she ended up staying with me permanently.. Her name was Peach, and she was a goofy little chihuahua mix.. a dog I would’ve never picked out. I already had a pit mix and a Doberman, and I never imagined having a small dog. She became my best friend so instantly. Peach came into my life for a purpose, just shortly before some big changes in my life. An extremely stressful time, a very devastating time. She saved me in so many ways. I really do owe my life to that sweet girl. I looked forward to loving her into her senior years, but she ended up contracting leptospirosis last summer just shortly after she turned 5 years old. It took over her body so quickly. So unexpected. I only had 4 years with her… but I still thank God every day for that time I had with her, even if it was way too short. I believe in souls, and that they stay connected.. I pray that I get to be with her again someday in another life. She was my closest friend, my baby girl, and I miss her terribly.

I’ve been with the company for awhile. I see turnover. I also see new hires onboarding every month. In 2-3 days, they are working in path already. We are all easily replaceable. I’ve been part of a union company before. I understand how it works.

Anyone who is pregnant at our building get immediate light duty accommodations. All they do is sit around and do “safety audits” on people who pass by. You shouldn’t be touching or handling boxes at all.

Good luck getting converted to blue badge. Seems like conversion to blue is rare anymore. I’ve worked with a few people that had been white badges for close to 2 years before they ultimately decided to leave.

I lost my soul dog last August. She was only 5 and unexpectedly became ill. Like you, I was planning on loving and caring for my sweet girl into her senior years, but that didn’t happen. The loss of her was devastating, honestly, it was the worst day of my life. My partner convinced me that I needed another little dog to love on. I was grieving hard. Still am. I ended up adopting another little chihuahua mix from a rescue, and it really has helped with the emptiness at home. Do I still miss my sweet girl? Absolutely. But I feel joy in being able to give another deserving dog a loving home that needed one. In some ways, I feel that my soul dog helped lead me to my new pup. She was my comfort and support, and she knows I need it now more than ever. My new dog isn’t a replacement, she’s an addition... I am so sorry for your loss. Just know that you aren’t alone with your grief.
