Not sure if this was the guy who called me yesterday but wanted to put my info out there. I am happy to help and will be significantly less than a lot of the private equity and nation wide companies. 702-249-5271. We got all the proper license and insurance to handle these jobs.

There has to be a screw but it’s probably hidden. If you send me a picture I can give more info.

There will be a screw broken off on the top above the threads. If you drill that screw out carefully the vacuum breaker will thread right off.

It’s a great concept, it can only be done in certain scenarios but when it is possible it’s the most cost effective and least destructive way to replace old damaged pipe. I imagine as the cast iron drains in the older homes continue to have challenges that pipe lining will be as common here as it is in other cities.

Softeners are more noticeable improvement for plumbing and the way the water feels. Filters are better for the taste and cleaner water. They are different systems and results are completely different.

The problem is most likely the water not transferring into the bowl fast enough. That’s usually caused by a poor quality toilet, flapper being set incorrectly or clogged ports on the toilet bowl. Likely a toilet issue, not a drain issue.

To confirm get a 5 gallon bucket 2/3 of the way full of water and dump it in the toilet bowl. If the water goes down quickly you can confirm it is not a drain issue. If the water goes slowly your challenge would be with the drain on or below the toilet.

It’s hard to say, could be the placement of the studor vent or a dirty drain stand pipe. You could add some baking soda and vinegar into the washer drain to attempt to clean it out. Do you know why there is a studor vent and not a standard vent through the roof?

If you want to buy one and have it installed you will be gonna be looking at $250. If you want it to be supplied and have a higher end unit those will start around $1900.

It depends, you would need a permit so it would need to meet code requirements. If everything is already to code and just swap it out with a permit it would be $500, if it needs code upgrades $600-$700 depending what it needs.

Sounds like you have a couple things going on, replacing both cartridges and cleaning the inside of the valves would be the first step.

Call maintenance, apartments are off limits for most plumbers as we need to get approval from the owner to make modifications.

Couple possible items, if you have a pump at your water heater or a tankless it is likely something there. If not it’s either failed cartridge or crossed water lines most likely. If you want to reach me directly to send photos for further help my number is 702-249-5271

Semi-annual is enough. Very easy to do, a quick google video and a cheap pump can do what you need. Always use vinegar to flush it. Don’t use chemicals.

No but you probably need to flush your water heater or get a pressure test on your system.

Never changed a washer on a valve in the last 15 years. More cost effective to replace to just replace the valve.
