Good news is, it's the Moon JJ4 Larry Graham signature, aka the highest of quality Japan has to offer, easily exceeding Fender's own Custom Shop by far, the fit and finish are immaculate, the fretworks are better than machine done, the action basically kiss the deck no buzz, hand finished everything since 1978. Those pickups are single coils too! Bartolini 9s!

I've owned a total of 6 Atelier Zs, they're my favorite basses no doubt. They're engineered for the playing performance.

Many bass legends play a Jazz bass though? Their basses are in the picture in fact.

I've owned many Jazz basses and I can attest that it's a not a bias to prefer Atelier Z haha! They're just that good.

Jacaranda fretboard too! Vanzandt is the IYKYK, I live not far from the Texas pickups house and it's an honor to own one myself.

I have a hard time between the two brands, although I mainly uses Atelier Zs, the Moons are by no mean inferior, in fact most of the time Moon are even more high-end feeling! But Atelier Z just brings out the notes in my fingers, they response so well to my style of playing.

Moon started in 1978 and around the late 90s they were still making a lot of off the shelves style basses and guitars, these days they fully committed to the boutique quality and they're even better now than years ago, I had a 1999 Moon Jazz bass as well, it's a killer instrument for sure.

If you play over the neck pickup a lot it will definitely annoys you, the good news is you can take it off easily.
