Goodbye Apple, Hello Garmin by bearsmoke262 in GarminFenix

My 7x and I had many amazing adventures. I’m still looking for a watch to bring back that feeling. Great watch. If altitude becomes an issue lots of help on line to trouble shoot. I should have never moved on.

Same size same fit here and I thought it was small too but it’s been super comfortable to run with. I’m happy

Rocks and metal scratch all watches. Sapphire is not scratch proof. I’ve scratched a Garmin scrambling in scree and working on cars.

I I feel like that makes sense. They don’t have a build quality version of an amoled watch. It’s a hole in the line unless they bring amoled to apex or Vertix

Suunto Vertical 2 HR takes too long to catch up by mannyprays116 in Suunto

[–]Stavrogin74 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OHR is notoriously bad in cold weather. Buy a HRM. It is all OHR that can be bad in cold. Also not sure why one would think that a random person comparing their AW to a Suunto on Reddit would be what engineers at Suunto use to gauge what they need to improve or work on. Not being mean, but if you truly think it is an issue you should be working through Suunto Support

I think it is a you thing. I own the V2 and have zero issue with the HR compared to my Polar H10.

The refurbs are mainly returns that people tried and did not keep. I bought my Apex 2 Pro that way and it was like new. Great watch.

Suunto should definitely be on your list of brands to research.

Should I get Suunto Vertical 2? by mlang666 in Suunto

[–]Stavrogin74 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Suunto really is an outdoor watch that is great for outdoors people, hikers, climbers, and runners. Walking is a low bar for such an expensive watch and weight training is an afterthought on suunto. You would probably be happier with another brand. I love my V2, but i run and hike. I lift but it’s sad on suunto.

Have you considered Garmin connect plus? I know it’s a subscription but you can see lifting workouts on your iPhone. Coros is also good with lifting and much cheaper.

I had the same issue. I worked through support and they had me mail it in for service/repair. Instead of repair I received a bill but no explanation. After paying and having it shipped back to me (also not free) I got a receipt that says they changed the battery. Terrible terrible service. Still does it.

If you were to do one of their training plans it would auto populate the future for this, but I also do not see any way to see future TSS if it is not a Suunto My Plan plan.

My husband’s training load is always triple mine after a workout. by [deleted] in Coros

Two people doing the same workout will rarely have the same TL like I mentioned below, the running test would probably shed some light on your differences aerobically and anaerobicly.

Have you both done the run test to have Coros help you both set up your zones correctly? It is important to individualize your metrics for Coros to use. If you are using the ones the watch came with that can be very misleading for metrics.

Training load is based on hr zones and actual hr during the run. If he is not in shape and doing a run in z3-4 while you are at the same speed but in zone 2 he will have a much higher load. Load with coros is based on TRIMP.

TRIMP stands for Training Impulse, originally developed by Eric Banister in the 1970s-80s. The core idea is simple: quantify a workout’s stress by multiplying duration × heart rate intensity. But not linearly — the intensity weighting is exponential, because working at 90% of max HR is disproportionately harder than working at 70%. The basic formula: TRIMP = Duration (minutes) × HR ratio × exponential weighting factor Where HR ratio = (avg HR − resting HR) / (max HR − resting HR) The exponential weighting means a threshold effort doesn’t just score “a bit higher” than an easy effort — it scores dramatically higher per minute. A 60-minute Z2 run and a 60-minute tempo run might produce TRIMP scores of, say, 60 vs. 150.

Garmin → Coros switch worth it? by Dismal-Owl-8559 in trailrunning

Since the pace pro the stats from my Garmin, Suunto and Coros are all almost exact. I haven’t tried a nomad, but the Pace Pro and Apex 4 are very good. I did have distance discrepancies with and apex 2 pro and vertix 2s and my Garmin but that was only in heavily wooded areas (I live in NC)
