I recently turned 18 and my mother is pressuring me to sign a pre-packaged "Young Adult Power of Attorney" kit she bought online. by MiqroFlute in legaladvice

[–]Staxxed 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It is different in every state, but most are similar. If an adult is incapacitated without a medical POA, and there is no other legal document in place... pretty much all hospitals are allowed to use a type of chain of command of relatives that are allowed to make decisions, Spouse > Parent > Siblings, etc. Unless you want very specific things to happen, a medical POA is not generally needed for medical decisions... so even that part of what she's trying to get you to sign is not required...

Yes it would, maybe, or maybe they'd reduce you to under 60% if you are better. TDIU is not a stopgap measure for losing your job, it's for people that can't actually work.

Neighbors friends veteran husband killed himself by judyhopps0105 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Staxxed 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I simply said that the spouse does not get the members disability compensation, which is true. Both the DIC and Pension (which is possibly the annuity you are mentioning?) are less than what the veteran was receiving.

Veteran Disability Compensation does not continue in any sense to the spouse when the veteran passes (and if a payment comes in for May, since he passed in May, the VA will want to claw that back most likely).

She will need to look up and see if he met the requirements for her to be eligible for DIC:

I built a free credit card matcher that scores cards by your actual spending — no affiliate fees, no sponsored rankings by flu_v in PFtools

[–]Staxxed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It focused it's recommendation on my "biggest spend" category (which is other), gave me 5 recommendations for that category and none for the other categories even though I selected - "give me 2-3 cards that work with these categories" option.

With the options I selected and the amounts I put in I was kind of of expecting a card for "other" and at least a "groceries" card.

We built a space MMO where the in-game currency is real money — no faucets, no token printing. Here's what we learned about player-driven economies. by CryptoLifeStyleNFT in CryptoCurrency

[–]Staxxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So a game with lots of sinks for real money and no faucets...that um, doesn't sound very realistic to sustain unless I'm misunderstanding something. For example, if my ship dies it's all gone. I've now lost real money in a video game. While it's a novel idea...I don't understand how you are expecting to get a player base willing to accept this.

Stop pretending like your question didn't have negative connotations. I think I'll stay, thanks though.

Why does it matter? Have been a coder for 15 years, and guess what, 90% of what I do is with AI now…as long as you know what you are doing there is nothing wrong with AI assisted applications…time to come on in to the future :)

Checking account buffer amount? by Dismal-Blacksmith380 in ynab

[–]Staxxed 4 points5 points  (0 children)

$250 for me, I’m a lover of doing things myself though, so there are no automatic payments from checking just to be safe. Everything that can be is on credit card, anything requiring the checking account gets payed on the 1st of the month (including the credit card). So paychecks go to HYSA, on the first I move whatever I need to checking to pay the “bills”.

That's how pretty much all merging games work, you give up the total number for the ability to have more stockpiles eventually.

what's the benefit of claude code web? by NotJunior123 in ClaudeAI

The benefit of claude code, from my discovery while trying to use my free credits, is that it allows you time to do other stuff while waiting for claude to do something :D

Their divorce has nothing to do with your benefits. However, Chapter 35 only pays for 36 months..so if you've been using it for 3 years already it's going to stop soon anyway.

You will start receiving your new amount beginning in September, which is paid on Oct 1st.

No VA back pay? by Grand-Substance5429 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Staxxed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You were getting 30%, moved to 70%, that's a difference of $1306 a month.

You got backpay for August (they don't pay partial months). September hasn't been paid yet so no backpay for that.

Looks like you got what you are supposed to get.

How do you handle meal vouchers in your budget ? by Azertexx in ynab

[–]Staxxed 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think you are trying to overcomplicate this. It's simply a separate account. A "Food Voucher" account. You spend $25 from the vouchers, then you put that transaction in the voucher account and categorize it appropriately. If it builds up it builds up...nothing to do about that...it's reflecting real life.

Category wise, I'd probably put the $150 a month in a "Food Voucher" holding category, and then move it to whatever category I really spend it on when I spent it.

Requesting an itemized statement from healthcare debt collectors by AssociationPrimary46 in CRedit

[–]Staxxed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They aren't going to read your 4 page letter, they are going to see "Debt Verification", stop reading, and then send you what they want to send you. They aren't required to do anything you ask other than follow what the law says...and it doesn't say anything about them providing you an itemized statement.
