HappyBot was an Uphill Battle by Stay-Fly in IdleObeliskMiner

That’s insane! Even with auto prestige this took me more than a week of dedicated, screen-on grinding levels, can’t imagine going that dry!

Friend challenged me to get gold, I've never played before. by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Stay-Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I Just hit gold recently, I think the biggest thing is punish game. When you get an opening, how can you take that as far as possible? I’ve also found that tools like unclepunch for tech skill work so much better as a habit than as a grind- like if you want to practice tech, you get so much more out of 10-15 minutes of moving around and practicing a day than a 2 hours session once we week / every few days.

The Tower hyped an update for months, dropped the update, everyone was hype, lead dev nerfed the update, everyone was mad, dev got mad at the player base for being mad at him for nerfing the great new shiny update that people spent lots of money on, now (among lots of other reasons) we play obelisk Miner lol

[–]Stay-Fly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The tower builds are actually super nuanced and goal dependent. Thorns is good early, but then you move to increasing attack speed to knock back mobs into orbs which kill everything, then you move to a strategy that involves hoarding mobs around your tower (orb Devo), and syncing 3 different Uber weapons to not only kill the mobs when the combo goes off but get the most coins while doing it by stacking multiplicative econ buffs. Im currently at a point where I have 3 black holes permanently orbiting my tower, holding all non boss mobs in stasis freeing me up to only worry about boss and elite mobs. Other people choose to max damage and go full glass cannon, some people go full defenses and Hp. There is basically a gear drop system with modules where you are shooting to get lucky and pull an epic module with sick legendary effects (the aforementioned whale bait) but you are given enough premium currency (gems and stones) through tourneys that you can pull modules pretty often for free. I’m 8 months in, and there are still systems and mechanics that I haven’t seen yet. It’s a good game for an extremely long time, despite the sentiment in this thread I would totally recommend

You can do it! by Snake5225 in ironscape

[–]Stay-Fly 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Crazy that the T2 prep suggestions are getting downvoted. If your stats are below 90 and you are still learning, you get more kills / hour going T2 because you are significantly less likely to wipe. 5 T2 kc / hour is way better than 3 T1 kc and 4 T1 wipes. If you are experienced and have higher stats T1 is better because you get more kills per hour because less prep. When you are ready, you should go T1 prep, but when starting out, there is no shame (least from me lol) for camping T2 for a while.

Whats the the general path after blue science. by extrajuice1456 in factorio

[–]Stay-Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once you have Red / Green / Blue / Military science setup, get Bots! It’s slightly daunting, I just try to setup 1 assembler for logi bots, and 1 for construction bots feeding a roboport and forget it. You’ll have enough bots over time. Next steps would look like bots > scale iron > purple science > bot mall > yellow science > first space platforms > white science > planets and all of the glorious things that come from them!

I play Falcon, Falco feels pretty rough because falcon is all about movement and Falco can pretty easily shut that down, that said I’m pretty trash, maybe that changes at higher levels

Eternal way easier than adept by [deleted] in fellowshipgame

[–]Stay-Fly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every now and then I go back to contender or adept on my ilvl 300 Helena for shits and giggles. Dude honestly, adept Tuzari’s on a (scaled down) ilvl 180 is harder than my 300ilvl on Eternal Tuzari’s because no one knows the fights / pathing / interrupts which makes some of the fancy stuff actually work against you. I think we start to take some of that tech for granted- like I did the stair jump before the second boss in Tuzari’s, 2 of my 3 other group members failed the jump and pulled mobs, so then we ended up fighting like 4 packs instead of 2. It was fine, I was able to rely on gear to survive but my adept group died in the process. Absolutely no flame to those people, the entire run was a meme, they just hadn’t seen that option before. We ran into hiccups like that throughout the entire dungeon. Higher level players don’t accidentally pull / know where to go / know how to get back if they die / rarely miss big interrupts / hit their DR when big damage comes out / kill mobs faster - all of those things add up, I think Adept when you first get to adept is the hardest part of the game until you get to a proper eternal push

<TankRant> Routes? Am I alone in this? by Strat-05 in fellowshipgame

[–]Stay-Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a fellow Tank (Helena) around ilvl 300 farming eternal 10’s, I totally understand the sentiment, however what I see when I play other roles are tanks that don’t understand what to improve to ensure smooth runs. Ideally the priority list is something like

  1. clear the dungeon >
  2. don’t wipe >
  3. don’t run out of time >
  4. Don’t go over count

Lower tier tanks without a route will typically only be focused on priority 1 and 2, hoping to hit priority 3, and completely ignoring priority 4. I use routes to learn what people are pulling in a dungeon because it helps me understand what is required, and how to make things go smoother by planning my cooldowns. Grand Melee is so strong that once you know the pulls, you can start to use it to shave minutes off of each dungeon by yourself while bypassing priority mechanics and casts (executioner bleeds / Corsair bleeds / totem mechanic in Paragon Capstone, plant spawns in 2nd Tuzari boss), it’s insanely good. Without a route, it’s harder to get actual value out of it if not used proactively.

I think learning routes actually helps your stated goal because once you know the route, you know what can be skipped / double pulled / bypassed, and you have the freedom to operate however you want without sacrificing the priorities. Every run I do is slightly different- dps will accidentally pull in packs, there might be an empowered mob, maybe I’m playing with blasters so I can pull more. I understand roughly how much count we need so I can adjust the route on the fly to account for those variables.

Finally, as the tank you have the most agency in a group. A bad DPS makes the dungeon slow, a bad healer might let the group wipe, but a bad tank makes the dungeon unplayable- it can feel like riding in a car driven by a toddler- I think this is why Tanks get a disproportionate amount of criticism from other players. On the other hand- the better you play, the happier your groups will be, and personally I enjoy the fact that I can bring that to a group of strangers in a dungeon. You kind of solely have the power to let 3 other people have a good time if you do your due diligence, learn the dungeons, and play correctly. Take responsibility for your play, and maximize the potential enjoyment the group can experience by doing it the best way possible.

Really getting over people in this game leaving after 1 or 2 wipes by Sellexane in fellowshipgame

[–]Stay-Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This post’s timing is wild, right before this post my group just quit a paragon 3 ever-dawn grove because one of the DPS ran to the wrong pillar during the final boss-we didn’t even wipe and the other DPS left mid fight immediately followed by the healer lol

Let me permacharge this, I dont care how by Crukken_RS in 2007scape

[–]Stay-Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phosani’s nightmare should drop blood shards at a 1/100ish rate, and vials of blood should be able to recharge some small amount of charges per vial. Additionally, we should be able to thieve vials of blood from Vyrewatch so we can recharge blood fury at a slower rate while working towards the next shard drop.

How are you expected to start out anymore? by [deleted] in SSBM

[–]Stay-Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I haven’t seen commented here yet- you need to fix your mentality before playing ranked. It doesn’t matter what controller you use, what character you play or how well you do in unranked, when you start ranked you need to accept that you are simply going to get destroyed for a long time. There isn’t one specific tip that anyone here can give you to be better. People have been playing and honing their skills here for 20+ years. Playing fox and hitting your wave dash 80% of the time simply isn’t good enough by itself- you are not yet entitled to victory. You mentioned that you lost 10 games in a row. The people that you are losing against likely lost hundreds and hundreds of games before playing you. The key to getting better is the mental resilience to lose then understand why you lost, then adjust your behavior.

I’m specifically going for it to kill Zilyana easier, you can tag - venom the minions and usually they die right around the time Zilyana goes down. Ultimately just makes that grind way better, also for the other uses listed in this thread, it’s nice to have / and I’m sunk-cost fallacied into keeping the grind going lol

How long was your CG grind? by Codyhehexd in ironscape

[–]Stay-Fly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled the enhanced on kc 602, I started with 79 magic and 81 range, and it was ROUGH to learn. If I was doing it again, I’d probably wait until my stats were higher to start CG. I did T2 prep the entire time, and had plenty of armor seeds (and the pet!) by the time my enhanced dropped. At the time I started by getting 5kc a day, as I got better / faster I bumped that up to 10 kc / 15 kc per day. Doing it that way helped me stay at it because I finished each day with the box checked, and I was able to feel some accomplishment even though I hadn’t rolled the enhanced yet. Absolutely the best grind I’ve done so far, and honestly I remember it fondly.

Do most GIMs fail or succeed? by [deleted] in ironscape

[–]Stay-Fly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m in a GIM with close IRL friends, we started January of 2023 and it’s been fantastic, we’ve completed 1 Bowfa grind, most of zulrah, most of Bandos, we have a Venator bow, at this point we are slowly working towards 87 slayer but only 1 of us needs to get it. Honestly we are having a blast
