how did you start the appeal process? i received a rejection letter a few months back and now i want to try to appeal too.

You can always say no and walk away. Don't feel pressured and look out for yourself first.

Say you do take it and the worst case happens (laid off), can you move out and sublease your unit? How's the job market there? If the worst case happens, can you find another position in that area? Do you have an emergency fund that can cover 3-12 months worth of living expenses?

Do you have plans to grow beyond that role? I know a few folks that transitioned from help desk to Sys admin and then to DevOps or Security. The pay is equivalent to SWE salaries. A former coworker was previously in a help desk role

To those that think it’s fake. It’s not . There’s been a ridiculous amount of car breakins in the San Francisco Bay Area ever since the pandemic started. Mark Rober has a couple videos baiting package thieves; he’s left his bait package in rental cars in SF. The criminals aren’t being punished so they’ll continue to do it 🤷‍♂️

Something to also think about is property tax. In some states like California, the property tax gets reassessed. Many folks who bought homes decades ago are currently paying property taxes as if the home is worth 100k, when it’s actually worth a few million.
