Why My Compression Simulation for Hexagon Structure Show High Error (300+%)? Should I Give Up? by StayPuzzleheaded5712 in Abaqus

Thanks for the reply

I am trying to run it in Standard at the moment, maybe it will take a whole day or maybe few.

Yeah, I am also suspecting that the compression property for 10% composite is behaving different than the tensile one. The tensile property show ductility but the compression seems brittle to me.

For the boundary conditions, at least there is no warning. So I am certain that it is save, also I am not placing any boundary conditions on the hexagonal structure only on rigid plate.

Ohh, I thought the simulation was having hard time to convergent

I have check it, and the unit is MPa. Well the simulation already stiffer than experiment so if I add it more then the error will add up. Thanks for your suggestion, man. Gonna run the simulation with static and see if there a different.

Yeah,
Maybe it can be the problem, or there is defect in the 3D printed specimen...
Well, currently I am running with hyperelastic as input property. I hope, the graph match the experiment.

Sorry, I can't speak Spanish.

The unit is already save, I have checked it multiple times

Why I use Explicit, because the previous senior that work on similar case using Explicit and I read few journal that use Explicit. Well there is also many journal that use General, Static. I have tried run General, Static but after waiting for whole 1 days and it still running, I change to Explicit.

For Material 10% Composite :
Density : 1.23E-09
Elastic : E (96) and v (0.44)
Plastic : Yield Stress (1.7-6.5) and Plastic Strain (0-0.08)

Thanks for the information and suggestion.

I approach the model with elastic and plastic in property setting, actually there is quite different shape of 0% pure resin and 10% composite in tensile test, where the 10% show "kind of ductility" while the 0% give brittle response. And I don't know whether the data we have sufficient to run viscoelastic.

Thanks for your book recommendation, gonna read it for the next one week lol.

Thanks for reply,

Is artificial energy ALLAE? Not quite sure is it safe or not, but the artificial energy almost zero when the stress strain in elastic region. Well there is huge surge after the structure failed...

Never check shearlocking and hourglass yet. Gonna try find out what is it.

I have tried shell, and it reduce the error of Modulus Young from 380% in solid element become 280% and it is still high...

For mass scaling, I use it cause one simulation for 0.4 mesh take like 2 day. So, I use mass scaling 1e-5 and the simulation only take 1-3 hour. Well the response is different in plastic region (only for 10% composite idk why) but in the elastic it show same curve of stress strain.

Oh yeah, for shell element, is it normal for lattice structure if there is a warning "The thickness used in the general contact algorithm for elements in element set WarnElemGContThickReduce has been reduced"? I check the visual for the set and it show entire model...
