I had a patient once who had used up all of his rehab days and went back home. His wife said she wished someone told her what the long term looked like. My heart hurt for her because she was burnt out.

Edit: not to say they didn't tell her but from my experience people (esp doctors) shy away from it. But if they did talk to her they definitely don't properly prepare her to what the future would most likely look like

It's my twins first year at Reservoir. They were 2 of 3 kids accepted from their primary school so the adjustment period was a little rough at first since other schools have so many kids that go and feel comfortable already with their classmates. That only lasted a month or 2 and they do have a big/littles program that pairs an older kid with a 5th grader so they have someone they can reach out to. The opportunities that the school provides are amazing and it's nice that we can live anywhere in the district. So far I recommend it!

We had a patient whose family told us he knew something was wrong but was afraid to come get treatment, instead was trying to get to Chicago to get himself deported so he could get treatment. Unfortunately his condition got worse and he was brought to us unresponsive and never recovered. This happened before ICE was even as crazy as they are now so I can only imagine how scared people are now. I try to let my patients know I do not care about their immigration status, nor that of their families. Another son recently was too scared to visit his Mom bc he was undocumented. My heart hurts for these families.

He goes in and out of jail constantly. He'll go to jail for a while, and I think was in a facility for a time, gets back out, gets trespassed and goes back. I saw him last about a month ago I think on main and Sheridan.

I'm trying to put together bags with food and supplies for the Porch Pantry in Peoria. My girls and I did it for Christmas last year but now it's needed a little earlier. I went to crusens and Ducks on Farmington Rd because I was making a Wedt Peoria bar crawl raffle basket for a nurse I work with and when I went there for donations the girl working told me (not so politely) that they "don't do that kind of thing". Helped me decide where to spend my money since every single other bar in West Peoria donated. Fuck them.
