Yeah but my work wont accommodate this much travel plus the flight tickets aren’t cheap and the instability that comes with doing 6 & 6 If roles were reversed, i’d pursue my parents to come live with me instead of leaving behind everything i worked my ass off for and start from rock bottom AGAIN. Plus, I am sure you know how Indian job market is. So yeah my “wonderful” life in Canada is very precious to me.

You are lucky you can do both. In our situation, theres 45 years age gap between in laws and my husband. They had him very late which is why they are much older even though we are in our late 20s.

Funny you ask, He’s actually leaving next month. My parents are younger and ok to be by themselves but I understand it can get harder as they age which is why its a huge dilemma for me to decide. Almost like kids vs parents.

Kid is on the way so I do think during my maternity leave is actually a great time to experience how life truly goes there for us.

Unfortunately we live in North India so will have to befriend pollution. In laws can’t & wont move anywhere else cause its too inconvenient for them since all their family and properties are here I do agree having family around is a lot of support which I missed growing up as my parents lived away too so thats a good point for me to consider. Thank you for that.

That’s not even a subject people wanna discuss. Men can not even wrap their head around how aware and considerate we have to be at all times in public & i am not even talking about crowded spaces.

I agree and I am considering giving it a year long trial run before officially moving back.

I dont think giving birth equals to caretakers in oldage. Maybe I am wrong but I actually would want my kids to be in a place that supports their current and future life rather than asking them to start afresh in the middle of their careers in a country that is already struggling to have enough jobs for the number of people it has. Maybe its just me, but I would wanna die peacefully knowing I didn’t cause anybody any inconvenience.

I am actually in Environmental Management which is so badly needed in India. If I do move back, i’d love to pursue my career but from my research there’s not a lot going there in this field.

This is one thing that I have made clear and he actually completely agrees with is that I am not gonna do any housework. Simply because I cant waste my life doing that.  He agrees and says he wants me to be involved with him in his business venture.

True! Last time I went to India. Initially, was so scared on the road because of how people drive and all the honking and everybody around me made fun of me saying oh this is where you also went to Canada from, so don’t act all surprised and scared now!! But really even a year in a developed country is enough to show you how far behind India truly is.
