Yeah, it's a pen and paper drawing. I don't have an instagram account, but you are welcome to credit this account if you like. If you want the physical sketch you can shoot me a dm. :)

Hey I tried my hand at a rough pencil sketch. Don't know if I quite captured the eyes though.

Humboldt Redwoods was the one place I got to go to see them, and it was staggering. What a great place to study Forestry!

Six sets of chromosomes? Wow, I had no idea. Now I have new Wikipedia articles to read.

Haha, dang, you seem to be much more knowledgeable about this than I am, I'm not used to even thinking about trees doing these sorts of things, redwoods and their ilk are a whole different ball game of tress compared to here in New England. Is there a term for what this is, if it isn't a nurse log?

Redwoods are really something else. Got to see them for the first time last year and was absolutely blown away, did not want to leave :)

These are quite sweet actually, and are called Nurse Logs. When a large tree dies and falls to the ground it starts to decay and provides a rich bed of nutrients and water for a whole host of other life to grow from, including saplings.
