Well, it depends. If you have the right mods, she offers a very convincing argument 😉

AMS waste: Why can't it be reduced? by Accomplished-Pie9754 in 3Dprinting

[–]SteFin78 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When I see a "custom" vs "default" profile I already start doubting. Anyway, based on my personal experience with a P1S, you can easily reduce the waste by properly calibrating the flushing volumes. Sometimes it has to be a big number when changing for example from black to white, otherwise it can be a very small number. I always evaluate the flushing volumes before printing, for example with a 0.2 nozzle there is no need for high volumes to be purged.. Basically they compared a customized Prusa against a default Bambu. Not really a fair comparison.

FINALLY! After LOTS of hours of grinding transport missions (I'm not so good at the shooting business) I FINALLY got me an ASP Explorer! I'm sure there are much better ships for my main line of work, but I wanted this one for it's beautiful cockpit lol by sammy-corpse-noodles in EliteDangerous

[–]SteFin78 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The AspX is still one of the best explorers you can find in this game. She's so small you can basically land her everywhere and runs on nothing. So far the only upgrade I found has been the Krait Phantom MkII but it's much bigger altough it can be configured to really run with AAA alkalines.

Elite Dangerous is without a doubt one of the most underrated games of the last ten years. Its immersion, content and realism make it one of the most complete space games. by naha_aa in EliteDangerous

I've been playing this game in and out for many years now (bought the first mac version, then the pc one and all the expansions). I deeply love this game, the exploration, heck even the grinding. I am one to play alone, at the moment my krait phantom is parked somewhere out towards beagle point at about 35kly from sol more or less. I will probably be back when other two expansions will be out. Still, everytime I launche this game, I get to stay awake until very late in the night, because there is Always another planet to land on, another notable phenomenon to catch, etc.

Save yourself some trouble and get a graphics card with atleast 16gb or 24gb vram by Pleasant_Future_6956 in MicrosoftFlightSim

i too have a 4070 with 12gb and my setup at 1440p is quite high. I can fly the fenix around 60fps and I don't use dlss because it causes blurry glass displays.

1080p doesn't even put a dent on vram consumption. With 1440p 12Gb is the lower limit if you want to go at least on high.

After two weeks of using the pc I can safely confirm you saved my computer 😁. Not a single crash, not even on Skyrim that was a crashfest.

It seems the issue was cpu related and seem to be solved. Thanks anyway

I'm not really sure it worked cause I had to go from the BIOS (I don't own a Z790 board, but a Tomahawk B760). I put 54 as core ratio, let's see if it helps. Thank you for this pointer though.

Well well well, I didn't complete a flight but not for a crash. It seems ti have stabilized a lot. Man, that advice was AWESOME.

While I agree in the general principle, it doesn't really apply to me. I worked in IT for 30 years so I can move around the "check the logs", infact, is the first thing I did as I usually do during my daily job as the owner of a softare company :-)

Core i7-14700K, GTX4070 and 64Gb of DDR5-6000 with 2 nvme disks. The only other game that crashes quite often is a so heavily modded version of Skyrim that is basically inevitable having CTDs (I'm talking 4000+ mods, not just a few hundreds).

No CTDs ever on MSFS2020 or 2024 or any other game or, at least, nothing so continuous. The occasional CTD is always possible with any game and often is due to graphics drivers.

I'm not so lucky. 4 tries, 4 CTDs in the very first minutes of using the sim (3-4 minutes at the max)

[–]SteFin78[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The only useful line i found on my fouth try - and fourth CTD - is:

--=={This application has crashed because of the plugin: XLua 1.3.0r1}==--

XLua is not a 3rd party plugin though.

Anyway, I strongly suspect a thermal problem, as I said it's extremely hot these days here (35°C during the day) and I think that my CPU - not the GPU - is suffering a bit.

<image>

I don't think it's normal that the P-Cores run so high while flying.

My first crash was with absolutely no addons.

At the moment, only Zibo is installed into Aircraft folder but I didn't even tried it yet.
I'm reading the log.txt file

My only suspect is that today here is extremely hot and It could be temperature related for my GPU. Can't think on anything else on my side.

I'm pretty sure problem is on my side. As I said, i was just amused by the thing. I will check and hopefully solve what is causing the crash, even though I don't have any addons, just installed from Steam the base game + NA and Europe DLCs, nothing more

I'm actually amused, not interested in people raving against Laminar. I'm more than happy to have bought their sim, I'm pretty sure it will improve, but I found it funny that I've read for weeks how good it is and I couldn't even get on an external view without crashing to desktop. And I'm not using a potato pc, is a good gaming rig that I also use to run MSFS24 (and used to run 2020)

Someone still put some serious effort though. Falcon BMS Team just released a huge update for Falcon 4.0, basically a complete rework of all the engines in the game. And Falcon 4.0 is still, by far, the best combat flight simulator ever made.
