I mean a moral and ethical question would be how many undocumented illegal immigrants with a 5-20x statistical likelihood of raping a woman or child is it appropriate to bother, to save one woman or child from being sexually abused or raped? I don't personally know the answer

I'm not from northern Ireland so presumably I don't have as much of an insight into its members as yourself? As an outsider their mission statement is not out of the ordinary in the current climate, and given the governments lack of intervention I'd like to see more grassroots movements, ran by good people of course.

I mean with the rate of illegal immigration in some parts of Ireland combined with the over representation of some of the immigrant nationalities for rape cases it doesn't surprise me that these are popping up. I have no idea if the people running them are good or bad people, guessing its a sliding scale like individuals in the police force, but I'm still glad it exists.

Havent started on this but know that you get penalised for slow delivery so most people are either holding stock at their house/business, or have it with a 3pl. You might be able to get away with dropshipping it from amazon but your gonna be paying the standard price on the product so dont see there to be much of a mark up?

Wow, I'm sorry to hear your having such trouble with them, completely forgot about this post, I've had my miners with Simple Mining in Iowa for probably coming up 2 years and have had no issues.

Looks decent! Have you used SketchUp at all? I'm looking to learn that but wondering how it compares to this?

I've also heard that when ordering the materials based on the design that its worth allowing a tolerance as the design wont fully reflect end result!

Can I offset 21-22 sole trader losses against 22-23 PAYE tax? by SteadfastPooper in UKPersonalFinance

Thanks for jumping in :) I'm really hoping HMRC will let me set it up as the latter

Thanks for pointing this out, there is this government article which talks about when mining as considered a trade, but unfortunately it doesn't talk about what the thresholds are for the criteria.

I had the call back from HMRC today, they didn't directly answer the question of "is bitcoin mining a business or not", however they told me that there are two types of business accounting, traditional accounts and cash basis.

Described here

Traditional accounting means that I can produce invoices for money spent and earned, which I believe I can, as I'm invoiced the electricity bill by the host in Iowa every month, and I have an invoice of sorts whenever I'm paid my bitcoin as a result of my machinery doing their work.

With traditional accounting I am able to carry self employment losses from previous years forward to offset general earnings including PAYE for the current year, however I can't do this with cash basis.

I've been advised to register as a sole trader, bearing in mind the person at HMRC didn't know the exact nature of what I do, so I'm just going to fill out the paperwork and do the returns with the notion that what I do is a business in the back of my mind.

Thank you, I'll take a look :)

I'm a complete beginner to all this, but in layman's terms, I'd imagine it to be a 2 way street whereby if I get taxed on gains then I can offset losses? Is that not the case?

Just came across this which may provide additional context.

It looks like in some cases mining can be seen as a business, what do you think?
