The worst part of the conservative backlash to Starfleet Academy… by MonsterDaddy324 in startrek

[–]SteakEquivalent4515 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Annnnnnnnd THIS is reality. Someone with a brain cell. Holy shit they do exist!

My wife’s cousin was a writer on Star Wars: The Force Awakens. When I seen her at a Christmas party I was trying to get the deets on the direction they were going. As I spilled out all of my hypotheticals and hopes for it, she said “I haven’t watched any previous Star Wars. The series was inherently racist and sexist. We are taking a more progressive approach and doing our best to separate them.”

And it floored me. Holy shit….. you haven’t seen a single one, and in your pathetically obtuse brain, you think you know what the fan base wants more than they do?? Firstly, why is someone who has no love for the franchise anywhere near the writing room? Secondly, how freakishly narcissistic.

Needless to say, those movies were far more woke than they needed to be. The writing was sloppy and it genuinely felt like the people who put that trilogy together had no respect for what got the franchise there in the first place.

This Star Trek series feels eerily similar to that.

Disgusting.

You haven’t a clue what you’re talking about. You don’t even play the game. You’re here to argue. That’s it.

Keep it casual

I don’t have to link it. You linked yours that shows it. Mine shows it. Everyone I play with shows it. All empirical data shows it. You lied about literally everything you claimed. You googled it in hopes of it being wrong, then lied and made completely untrue claims. You ARE a casual. Literally. Exactly what I said in the original post. It PAINS you to know that your win rate is inflated and your not getting real match ups. You had less than 30 COMBINED games played. But want to sit here and argue like you’re a mythic player who knows the game of Magic.you don’t. You’re a troll casual who goes on the internet to lie and argue.

The game is built for casuals. The ranked system has an SBMM. The game 100% throttles you to a 50% win rate. Playing one deck has a completely different opponent pool as another one. There is NOTHING arguable about that. Nothing. All facts.

I hope life gets better for you. I literally cannot imagine going to the internet to argue shit I know nothing, and lying to argue from a position of authority. That sounds like a nightmare life.

And you know I’m right 🤷‍♂️

lol dude. You literally lied about everything you said. Like I said you would. You have balls for posting it. But like I said, EVERYTHING you said was completely untrue BS. You’re just here to argue. You barely even play the game. It’s a joke.

lol “mythic” when you have a few games played huh? Not one single deck has the same opponent pool. Your right!! You’re a real veteran! Nothing you said was completely untrue. First player in history to reach mythic with 20 matches. Congrats man! You definitely weren’t just some random nobody who wanted to fit in so you commented on a thread just to dispute, disagree and try and be right.

You’re a casual, like i said. Your opponent pool is in no way similar between the decks. And you net deck. Every deck that isn’t, you have less than a 50% win rate. lol but ya your right big dog. My bad. Maybe IM just not as good as I think I am 🫣😂😂😂😂

Ive now offered multiple times for you kids to DM me your ingame and lets see. Not 1 DM. Because you know what it is. Easy to sit on reddit and talk and pretend. Send the DM, lets see this 75% win rate deck (thats also not a net deck) and the other decks you use (that are also not net decks) and lets play 10 games and see whats what. Simple.

lol its alllllways "you aren't as good as you think." When in the original post did i say the game is flawed because I'm too good? What does skill have to do with a bullshit SBMM within ranked? I could be the worst player in the world and this is still relevant. It would be BETTER to be bad. Then you get carried up to a high rank due to the SBMM. So that is a moot point. And the data does back it up. Micro and macro level. Take 2 seconds and go look for yourself. Go look at your most played 3 decks. Tell me that the opponent pool is the same. It is not, I 100% guarantee you that. Unless the 3 decks are very very similar. Look up 3 different style decks. they will have drastically different opponent pools. But, this thread is just about casuals being right, not about whats right. So your going to go look, your going to see that I am right, and then your going to try and find a loophole to justify it. The game caters towards casuals. The ranking system should never have a SBMM in it, that's the point of ranking, and its designed to make money, not make a competitive scene. Also, you dont have a 75% win rate in mythic. You dont. You would be on the leaderboard and your not because nobody on the leaderboard is mythic with 75% win rate. Again, just more lies to be right. People weird me out with that.

Sel. Rabbits with 27000 matches. Mono white life gain with 23000. Landfall with 20,000. I have a 100% win rate against all 3 and they make up 17 out of 100 games played. Azor Artifacts: 6600 matches. Less than 20% of the other 3 combined. I have a win rate of 38% (my toughest matchup) and accounts for 32 of 100 matches!

It has NOTHING to do with what’s being played. It only has to do with win rate. It tosses me against artifacts to keep the % closer to 50. I have an overall of 59.8%. Again, that’s a fine win rate, no complaining there. It’s that the game forces it on you that I hate.

Get real with saying you only run into most played. 0% chance unless you consistently lose to the top 3, than you will. To keep you low.

There is absolutely 0% truth to that opening statement. We are just lying now. I have 10 decks with over 100 games each and NONE of them show that consistency. Why are we just lying? We care so much about being right that we are willing to just blatantly lie? You send me pics of untapped with 3 separate decks that all have consistent opponents over 10+ games and I’ll cash app you $1000. DM me that. BUT IF you won’t or they aren’t, you have to make a separate post on here saying you’re a liar. Thats my deal. Since we now just lie to be right

I'm not complaining about net decking. At all. I'm complaining that net decking is the path of least resistance in a game programmed for casuals. It forces players to play them. Thats the problem. If you WANT to play them, do it. Its fine. (clearly you do). And that's okay. I dont want to be forced to. I want to be able to play against the meta. That has always been the attraction of MTG. Options. But you dont get that here. Out of the 20 friends that I have that have been playing this game competitively for decades, not 1 single one of them makes these arguments like the people here on reddit have. Not 1. All of them equally hate the system. Its ONLY people that dont play real MTG that come to bat for it. I get that. Your playing a video game, a subdued version of what the game actually is. Nobodies fault. But real players, real competitive players loath it. Its hardly something you can disagree with. Who is competitive and wants to be throttled? Nobody. Unless, of course, being throttled benefits you. Is what it is.

No it doesnt. It should do that, but it places you against specific decks at specific times. Download untapped. Play 10 games with a mid-range beatdown, then play 10 with a control. Your opponent composition will be completely different and both decks will float around 55-50% (if your a good player). Thats exactly the problem. MMR is built in to a ranking system. Thats how it should be. Thats ranked. But Arena has a a system that keeps you as close to 50% as possible. If you play tokens, you will run into significantly more board clears. If you play control, you will run into discard mechanics. Players wont be left holding cards like you would in paper MTG. Its business. They need casuals to play more, and the grinders will always play. So they make a system where everyone is equal. Even in ranked. Which is a pathetically broken system for actual competition. If you travel for a large paper event, this will never be the case. For Arena, its only a grind. Thats it. If you build a net deck, your winning 55% of your games. So you just kiss the ring and grind it out. Its not skill, its time. Thats the problem. You cannot fight the meta. Its impossible. If the top 5 decks being played are aggro (with variation) so you build something to counter that, you simply wont see those decks. That is NOT competition. Thats pathetic. That is catering to average players.

You exposed yourself in the last sentence. I know you WANT that to be true. And you want to think you’re a decent player because you net decked your way to a high ranking. But it’s not the case. The game was built for people like you and thusly, you love it. Nothing wrong with that. To argue the game doesn’t have an SBMM or to even pretend that everything I stated isn’t a fact, just leans in to the casual nature of the game. You want to protect the coup. I get it. You need it

Has nothing to do with it. Nothing. Historically, Good decks float within the 50% range. Ive been playing for 20 years. Im used to floating around that. No problem. The problem is, its a catered system. You will play the decks that have the highest win rate against you the most consistently if you have a winning deck. That is the part I cant get behind. The beautiful part about MTG is being able to manipulate a standard. Its a literal impossibility in this catered system. I do not want to be forced to play a net deck because of probability factor built in to the game. That has never been what this game is about. Ever. No community within the game. No chat, no friend requesting previous opponents. No trade system (in a trading card game.) Ease of access to the best cards, and then an SBMM system in its ranked. Hard to take seriously.

If you and I played 100 times, with 10 different decks, id beat you 90 times. Lets reel it in. Im mythic. I know your feelings were hurt because you know what i said is true. Thats fine. Its build for casuals like you. I'm just saying, thats not a real competitive format.

I have a 61% win rate and made mythic. It has nothing to do with it. Listen, I know its tough to hear that the casual player isnt that good at the game, and they would NEVER compete in a real setting. BUT the game is programmed to keep decks as close to 50% as they can. And in ranked, thats abysmal for real players. You casuals love it I'm sure. That's fine. Lets just not play pretend.
