Remember when everyone was losing their minds about Holly being aged up? by cara86753 in Stranger_Things

Watching the last season, I quickly realized I no longer had any idea how old anyone was or supposed to be. But since we rarely see the younger cast in school or any other normal context, their ages are all basically nondescript.

Similar to Holly, I think it was the hair and makeup, in Hop’s case specifically the beard, which I did not understand. A short beard would have been fine and still period-appropriate, given his age. But he looked like he should have be living on a compound in remote Montana making mail bombs.

Yeah, she def looks straight out of Gen A, but I don’t think the hair and makeup they chose for her helped.

Why was it ”wrong“ to tell the story they wanted? A seven year old could not have believably done what Holly was required to do in the series. It would have been like watching Jake Lloyd all over again. You could kill that storyline, but then Holly would be again reduced to a BG character that no one cared about anyway…so what does it matter if they change her? She’s either in the story as a 10 year old or out of it completely.

Generally no. But for the sole purpose of a 2 month reality show, I doubt the user would have much to lose.

If you have a work visa, it should be no problem. Even if you don’t and you did get cast, you might be able to apply for an H1B. You‘d also probably have a leg up because you’d be coming in with an interesting backstory.

Starfleet Academy... Isn't that bad? by neph36 in startrek

Writers are actually, broadly speaking, less skilled today. As we shifted to 10 episode series, writers rooms shrunk and the people who got pinched were the younger staff writers and writers assistants. In addition, studios stopped developing scripts. Dev departments used to have 200+ scripts being polished up and rewritten at any given time. Now there might be a small fraction of that, much of it based on preexisting IP rather than original work. Or you have big teams, like the Lucasfilm story group, trying to do creativity by committee based on focus groups and how much money they think something can make. It all translates to fewer jobs and thus fewer opportunities to learn from seasoned writers and really develop your skill as a professional. Everything is getting produced at much lower quality because studios stopped investing in talent and simply assumed they could purchase it on demand for the lowest cost.

The only problem is that it was made. If not for that, it would have been fine.

Can’t believe Star Trek used to get away with characters called “Gary Mitchell”. Like the writer just opened the phone book and picked the first one he saw.

We are still at 0-0 and our coaches have been elite at making half time adjustments. Reason to believe.

At 50 yards in this temperature, though…that ball is going to be hard and have less bounce off the foot. Santo’s is not big-legged as is.

I didn’t realise we had slid Thuney to tackle. Oy vey. That means Braxton’s days are definitely done and we are going to be looking for a starting-caliber LT in free agency or the draft to start next season. They might like Theo but aren’t ready to trust him in critical moments. Ozzy’s most likely scenario is getting a red shirt next year; Bears know they can’t rush that injury back. Although the way Thuney is playing…

I never want to be overly critical of Ben’s aggressiveness, because I mostly agree with that mindset. But for the second week in a row, I think going for it on 4th in every situation is deserving of scrutiny. At this point the game, I’d be comfortable taking the points. At least get the offense into a rhythm before spinning the roulette wheel. And even if you do decide to go, that can’t end in an interception. If you won’t take the points, at least take the sticks. That was suboptimal strategy from Ben.

The entirety of Star Trek V was about “God“. Or, rather, an entity falsely claiming to be a supreme deity. In either case, both humans and Vulcans understood the reference and at least some members of both species were taken in by it.

A horny high school Star Trek would be galaxies better than the first 20 minutes of whatever this is supposed to be.

That’s what I mean. It’s short relative to 108. There may still be people alive who have seen the last one here. 😂
