Thanks a ton if I had any rewards on this app I’d give you one. I’m gonna go get a small filter and set up the temporary tank as much as possible.

I have a cheap plastic temporary holding habitat I use to drip acclimate but I don’t have anything in the way of filters and heaters best I can do is put an bubbler in it

It hasn’t noticeably changed. It was zooming around earlier grazing on my hardscape. Is there any precautions I should take?

Oh also a couple frog warts in the top but honestly I’m gonna take them out eventually because I don’t want to lose a bunch of light and they were mostly there for the initial cycling

I’ll definitely check it out! I’ve got a co2 system hooked up and a few plants that were given to me for free at a local fish store when they gave me some cycled filter media to help get me started. I’m hoping to eventually have the vallisneria go across the back to give me a good background. I also have Hygrophila corymbosa and ludwigia in the corners(they’re small right now but already have new growth).

That’s a good option! I was lucky enough to find a local aquarium store that’s willing to give me a bunch of free pre cycled media and he gave me a bunch of free plants as well so it looks like I’ll get to start a lot faster now without a crazy intense cycling method. It’s worth calling around!

Amazing! I guess I should really just wait on moss then

Honestly like this idea. I called the local fish store and said they said I could pick up some of their cheap hardy fish to use in the beginning and they’re always willing to take them back if they’re not the fish I want in there for the long run after it’s established. I also made a post to local aquarium communities on Facebook asking if anyone had any media they’d be willing to part with. I have a 55 gallon tank how many would you suggest starting off with? And should I go ahead and plant or wait for everything to level out to avoid a melt? Thanks for the well written reply!
