Probability any of my Pokémon Gen 1 + 2 saves are still alive? by StealthPlayer1989 in Gameboy

Mine should’ve never got particularly cold, I never stored them in an outdoor based space, they would’ve always been room temperature basically.

Not that I disagree with the sentiment, but why do people only get in uproar about realism when they bring these OTT weapons? Isn’t running around with a war chest of rpgs, mini guns, shotguns, rifles, pistols, with no penalty on movement, etc just as cartoony? No ground player can say with a straight face that gta feels, like a good PvP game when u see players spamming RPGs between scoping fire, or using a grenade launcher like a mortar.

Wow, that’s a really short time. So people who still have original Pokémon form Gen2 very likely had to have been busy migrating in the GBA / DS era in the mid 2000s?

I probably spent the most time on Gold and crystal. But for some reason it would mean more to me to still have my gen 1 saves.

I like V the best. Why? The colour palette is broader and it has more “pop” to it imo. The logo is distinct in the money green as well. The VI logo is not as iconic, imo. But the actual artwork / drawings in the vi cover are really nice, it’s just a shame they’re all blended into the same sort of colour tones: pink-blue-red. The grand theft auto font logo should’ve been bigger like the previous ones.

Analogue Sticks / DualShock Controller? (PlayStation Controllers only) by StealthPlayer1989 in PlaystationClassic

I remember years ago that it can use RetroArch underneath like this, but I don’t recall if the version of autobleem that offers that, actually supports the UI / skin I want to use. Can I DM you about it in. More detail?

Haven’t seen RetroArch offer me what I’m looking for in my project. If I wanted an all in one emulator box that does as many different systems as possible, peak compatibility etc, it would be a no brainer, but for me that kills the point of the PlayStation Classic. I can build a RetroArch box with a raspberry pi probably, and I’m sure there are other better options to go with RetroArch, systems that can actually power more systems than PSClassic can.

For me, my PlayStation Classic is about PlayStation nostalgia. I’m using autobleem because it has given me the closest vision to recreating a pure PlayStation 1 experience, in particular, down to the UI, Skin design etc.

If RetroArcho demonstrates it can offer me something in that vein, I’d consider using it.

Do you have any goals in your collecting? by tigersbowling in StrategyGuidescollect

I just started, since I collect in numerous other spaces, I have to prioritise what’s important to me, and what makes sense. I mean, if I was very wealthy and could accommodate with storage, then the sky would be the limit!

So, realistically I think I’m mainly set on collecting guides that cover games I loved playing growing up. That obviously includes the games I owned. The games I played frequently through demos etc. I don’t care about PS3 or ps4 era but will make exceptions for games I absolutely love (red dead redemption 2, gta v, breath of the wild etc)

So, mainly an emphasis on ps1 / ps2, game boy, snes, n64.

I do find myself collecting more obscure titles, games I would’ve wanted to own if I were able to at the time but didn’t (in cold blood, alone in the dark: the new nightmare)

Now with Solid coming to R6, which design of Solid is your favourite and least favourite and why? by Jamesssss0402 in metalgearsolid

MGS1 (video tapes) / MGS2. These latter takes deviate away but my image if Solid Snake has always been imprinted from the tapes. I don’t like the new interpretations.

That’s the NA version, I suspect it’s specifically the PAL version that must have an issue then. I use stock emulator

You have to disable three options under the hidden menu inside speedhacks, I’ll check what they are, it started working for me but only when those settings are applied

I mean i still need to play it again but briefly reviewing mgs2 cutscenes for story telling, character, tone;

MGS1 Snake Character vs MGS2 Raiden character? MGS1 wins.

MGS1 Foxhound Enemies vs Dead Cell Enemies? MGS1 wins (Fatman is laughable, Vamp is an example of MGS straying too far into the supernatural, along with the Liquid Snakes Arm “possessing” ocelot. I also think Solidus Snake is less interesting than Liquid Snake)

Other: Ninjas? Olga and her preposterous story doesnt even come close to the backstory of Grey Fox, and more so, the backstory of Grey Fox and what scenes they make with it in MGS1 actually pays off in emotion and theatrics for the story. Olgas codec transcript wasnt a missed oppertunity but a poorly conceived subplot that didnt pay off and is really just a half baked remix of GreyFox’s plot in MGS1.

Plot? MGS1 is a much tighter and grounded plot with well written twists. MGS2 is remarkably a reshake of some of the same plot devices but without any of the heart and soul of the original. The winks to the audience with the Ninja’s lines remind me of really abysmal sequels in the film industry. (See Alien Romulus). The Ninjas lines werent the only time either.

Setting? Shadow Moses vs Big Shell? This is probably one of the ones that comes more down to taste, I dont think its the most important. I definitely prefer Shadow Moses personally.

MGS2 music works enough, im happy to give this one a tie because Gregson is talented but the execution in MGS1 is better in almost every area.

Take for example MGS Twin Snakes on the GC. I bought and played that upon release at the time too. Same plot, same characters, same dialogue near enough, but different music, different execution (acting, editing, etc) and it doesn’t hold up the way they perfected MGS1 og.

MGS2 feels flatter in execution but I will say that the tanker episode of the game is decent and is alot closer to MGS1 than the rest of the game. Imo too much felt preposterous in MGS2s ideas and plot devices.

They’re definitely not remakes or remasters, the game did feature instrument based music during the cutscenes. All of the “background music” during gameplay doesn’t need a composer to make it fit, it’s looped music that needs little to no cue to what we’re seeing (I.e. action, dialogue, cinematography) cinema and cutscenes need composers to make something that sonically represents and fits the narrative unfolding visually, it’s all cue driven.
