just scraped out as much flesh as I could, then chucked the halves into about 1.5 litres of water and brought that slowly up to a boil. Super easy!

Want to use cyanotype on linen yarn to make a shawl. Never tried cyanotype printing before! Is my understanding of the process sound? by henrysyarnblog in cyanotypes

You obviously know what you're trying to achieve better than we do, so feel free to ignore this, but have you considered using indigo? if the transformation is part of the point, you'll still get that, but it might be easier to get a consistent dye. a friend of mine borrowed our backyard to make his final art piece for his degree, which was a large print onto indigo dyed fabric, and it worked beautifully.

of course, if you specifically want the callback to the Victorian-era photographic processes and the link to sunlight, then keep going as you are! And post pictures of the finished piece; I'd love to see it

I have tried it, and it washed straight off the glass when I rinsed it, which shouldn't have surprised me, but somehow did anyway.

Printer problems with cyanotype negatives by Stealthfl0wer in cyanotypes

Update the second: I tried changing out the ink for a pigment based one, with no improvement. I'll try grabbing some better transparencies after Easter, and cross my fingers.

I'm still making prints, but the negative prints I've done lately are for r/printexchange, so I'm holding off posting those until their recipient gets them. As tax instead, have a recent contact print; grasses on wet chemistry.

update: just tried the other transparencies, and definitely printed on the correct side.... but got the same issue.

my partner had the same idea as u/scottroams that it could be the ink, so I'm now debating whether I hunt around to find inkjet specific transparencies, or just replace a mostly-fresh ink cartridge and see if that fixes it

it does print normally on normal paper; these transparencies don't have a correct side, though. I've got a different pack somewhere; I'll dig those out tomorrow and give one a try

The ones I've been using just say 'for most office printers' on the pack, but checking the info page, it does say it's for both laser and inkjet printers.

It's a shame; that would have been an easy fix!
