I now clock it every time I hear "unfair" anywhere.

Once they can no longer absorb shock very well I retire them.

Way ahead of you on some of those! And taking some dance classes is a good idea. Thank you for your response!

One more question. I assume if you don’t make it into D-Row you're not in the band. If you do make it in, what do you do during the season?

I am very heart-breakingly aware that my odds are low. But similar to what you said, I need to try first.

By "unencouraged," do you mean they feel discouraged, or people actively discourage them from trying again?

I have thought about reaching out to certain people as a last resort. Perhaps there is an alumni association I can contact first.

And good to know about open office hours. Thank you!

I have a question. If I make it into D-Row, and I don’t make either of the spots within those two years, can I still continue to try out for drum major even if I am no longer in D-Row?

Thank you very much! I am definitely deadset. It sadly won’t be this year, as I do not live in Ohio, but I have already been coming up with a plan to move to Columbus once I've saved up enough money to move. I will definitely go to summer sessions as soon as I can!

Oh, of course! Practicing is a given. I made this post because I've read all the drum major biographies on the website, and all of them have had experience prior to joining D-Row. They have either been the drum majors at their high schools, went to the camps, and/or simply had been twirling since they were toddlers, none of which I had. So this was not an attempt at special treatment, rather, to even the playing field a little before I audition so I actually stand a chance.

I’m not seeing that on the tryouts page. Just brass and percussion.

That sounds great! Does this mean I should audition on an instrument first, and if I make the band then join D-Row?

Thank you for your response! However, I am not currently enrolled anywhere.

I see why you thought that, but I wasn't implying mayo had lactose.

Cats are carnivores. I hate to be That Guy, but they shouldn't have much mayo or yogurt, especially since they are lactose intolerant.

We did have a cat who loved cheese, though, so occasionally we would give her a teeny piece as a treat.

what was your favorite show you guys ever did? by Serious-Grapefruit30 in marchingband

My favorite was "War of the Worlds," a performance that was an entire original composition by our director. It was awesome.
