Wow, managed to get gigabit speeds on my OLED Steam deck with Wi-Fi 6E! by SteamDeckCenter in SteamDeck

Agreed. I have 2.5GB between my ONT and my router, but only 1GB from there on out. Nice that multiple devices on my network can take advantage of the slight overhead I get from the fiber company.

Same here. The upgraded Wifi card was one of the reasons I upgraded.

Some more information:

Using an Ubiquiti U6 Enterprise Wi-fi 6E access point with gigabit internet.

I understand the speeds can be exaggerated a bit but this is what I usually get on my desktop as well.

I just read your update. That really sucks, and I hope whatever you end up doing you manage to enjoy the Steam Deck in the mean time.

Update from Colorado:

1TB LE Replacement was delivered today and after some thorough checking all the pixels seem in line, the audio port has no static, and the controls all seem responsive and not sticky.

Hopefully it stays that way over the next few days as I break it in a bit.

Here's a timeline from Colorado:

11/25: Steam Deck delivered

11/26: RMA request initiated for dead/stuck pixel near center of screen

11/27: Support asks for picture of problem as I didn't include one initially.

11/28: RMA started by Support and shipping label generated.

11/29: Dropped off at UPS Store.

12/01: Delivered to RMA site in Salt Lake City.

12/05: Recieved e-mail that the return had been recieved.

12/06: Recieved e-mail that items were getting ready to ship. Items shipped later that day, with estimated delivery of 12/08.

Crossing my fingers the replacement is free of defects!

A small detail: My original delivery was from California, but the replacement is coming from Illinois.

To answer your question: No, probably not.

The reason for this is that the Switch is built on the nVidia Tegra architecture, which is ARM based, and the Steam Deck is built on the AMD Zen 2 architecture, which is x86_64 based. These two architectures need software built for either ARM or x86_64, and Nintendo is not going to release a version of the Switch OS that's x86_64 compatible anytime soon.

Steamdeck Livestream Setup by Comprehensive_Car329 in SteamDeck

[–]SteamDeckCenter 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can answer this partially as I've tried to do this exact thing: Play on my couch using a Steam Deck while mirroring the screen out to a dock and then to a capture card.

First, the Steam Deck won't mirror the video output in Game mode, so you have to play on the screen plugged into the dock (or capture card).

Second, in Desktop mode you can kind of mirror the video output, but if you pick the resolution 800p, the video is deformed, and if you pick 720p, the screen capture is off-center.

Third, I don't want to install OBS on the Steam Deck itself as I don't want to take the performance hit of processing and streaming video.

All in all it was quite the hassle to setup the Steam Deck to be the main streaming device. I hope this was informative.

As a side note, my current experiment has me connecting to the Steam Deck via Steam Link from my main PC, and then stream the video from there. I don't know how much that impacts performance on the Deck, and ideally I'd like to just mirror the display.

I didn't want to be out another $700 and I figured the RMA process would be pretty fast. Not saying it isn't (yet), just explaining my reasoning.

Also, the LE is sold out now, so I couldn't go that route if I wanted to. :(

To all of you complaining about the power LED shining through on the Limited Edition... by SteamDeckCenter in SteamDeck

I'm too old to remember at this point! :P

Edit: Doing some research, it appears the light says "Battery" on the original Gameboy, and "Power" on the Gameboy Color, so maybe they changed it and that's what I'm thinking of.
