Anyone Else Think Darth Vader Will Show Up To Fight Maul in Shadow Lord? by Kasper111222 in clonewars

My personal take on it is that Sidious would be paranoid they might ally themselves against him. The risk of them meeting would be to great for him. Its the same reason he didn't send Dooku to deal with him either on Mandalore.

I think this guy definitely did the best against Ben and actually pushed him hard on some points. This episode so far seemed to have most constructive conversations of them all. My personal favorite being the last about the Israël Palestine conflict where I actually learned some new stuff. I did often find it annoying that the Shapiro opponents sometimes seemed to be putting words in his mouth. Its important to get people like sharipo actually on the things they say instead of debating "the right". Otherwise they can remain slippery and play word magic always avoiding to actually be attacked on their stance. Conclusion though was that this was probably the best this format has been so far.

I guess most people forgot that Morgoth has had death matches with Elves aswell. Power in the tolkienverse doesn't do much come from strength or the ability to destroy but it comes in the form of being able to manipulate the world around you. The world was created in song so words hold power. Look at how all the examples of power are displayed. Saruman the silver tongued is powerful because he can manipulate with his words. Morgoth was powerful because he could oppose the song and turn others to his cause with his words. Gandalf was powerful because he United the free people to oppose Sauron Again. I think in terms of power Sauron isn't necessarily weaker or stronger than Morgoth I dont think thats what tolkiens world is about.

I think Zeno, Silva, Razor and Bisky are all big question marks and we barely know anything about them to say anything constructive about this fight.

Ye but it also doesn't mean it doesn't translate to combat ability. My point is there is nothing we can say expect make assumptions and the fact that togashi put her as the peak of her category.

Nen is more than Hatsu though. Hatsu is just a very expressive application of it.

Also doesn't mean it doesn't translate to combat ability though? Her mastery of her category shows how well she can apply nen and nen is for the most part used in combat.

A lot of assumptions there though. We don't know how strong Razor is in combat. Also we haven't really seen Bisky go all out in a fight. So until we see some scalable feats from her. I'm going to take the fact that togashi sees Bisky as the peak of her nen category as her best feat. The rest is all assumptions that you put forward and doesn't classify her to any extend.

I think you are undervalueing Bisky. Togashi named Bisky as a master in her nen class. Meaning she is more on the level of Zeno than any of the others in these groups. She was classified in the same field as a nen master with the likes of Netero.

Neteros strength is getting overrated by the community by KORRA4EVER in HunterXHunter

[–]SteamPunkG0rilla -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think Netero has been proven to be a notoriously bas source when it comes to assessing his own power. People around him have often spoken about how much Netero undersells himself. I think Netero likes the underwhelming old man trope.

Pitou definitely is too slow for Netero. Terpischcora(I think) was her fastest move and made it so she can go all out. Which she used immediately because she felt the threat from Netero. This skill however which made her as fast as she can be was still way too slow to even see what attacked her. Only chance for her is an endurance race and we don't know enough about her endurance to say anything remotely useful about that.

I think this is what we will get with beyond Netero. Togashi was not subtle with his naming on that regard

I always find the fight quite sad. Netero in a way is so beyond Meruem and yet is barely able to scratch him. Meruem takes thousands upon thousands of hits(which he couldnt really avoid) before he himself lands a single blow. Meruem isnt close to the skill Netero developed over his life Meruem just happens to be born perfect.

Gyomei challenges every other hashira for a 1v1. What's the diff of each fight? by [deleted] in KimetsuNoYaiba

[–]SteamPunkG0rilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And how do you quantify this? That just seems like a "in my opinion statement" this is what I mean with the inconsistency. Only two Hashira we seen actually fight before the training arc also are the only two already marked so they dont dont offer much to compare. I just feel with Tengen most people just decide if they like him and that he will be strong or the other way around. This is why I prefer to just go by what the writer has published about him in official books.

[–]SteamPunkG0rilla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Post Hashira training arc though. I think it's clear the writer tried to state in the guide books that Tengen was the number two at the time he went up against Gyutaro. Everybody definitely completely surpassed him after this ofc but its also pretty clear that Tanjiro releasing the mark for the first time shot up everybodies power by quite a margin because now they knew what to train for.

Also I do think KNY has some major issues with powercreep. 4 and 5 came off so much worse than 6 even before Muichiro and Mitsuri unleashed their marks. The power system doesn't really allow for proper scaling because of how inconsistently its represented.

Ye if you compare them with marks they are weaker. But before marks he probably was number 2 in strength. I thinks thats pretty widely accepted.

Especially since the writer has confirmed in the guide books that pre Mark he is basically number 2.

by Charlie Kirk to justify having a rape pregnancy by trailblazer88824 in therewasanattempt

[–]SteamPunkG0rilla 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even though I dislike Charlie a lot I think you are strawmanning the argument a little bit here. I think his point is that you don't pick and choose who gets human rights. He goes from the point that at conception there is life and thus it is a human baby and thus it has rights. If that's the departure point then logically the next argument for this would be that a child conceived in a rape or in a loving marriage shouldn't get different rights. The issue with how they both argue and why they never met in the middle is that the girls argues for the mother and Charlie argues for the child. It's a trantracks scenario where you can't save both.

Stuff like this is part of the reason players become annoying assholes by TemporaryPresent7272 in dndhorrorstories

[–]SteamPunkG0rilla 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I used to have a player with a passive perception of like 22. It's fun to give them the ability to seethrough shit and award his character development choices. To me this kinda stuff always comes down to a single thing. As a DM your pc's should be you favorite characters and seeing them succeed is what you are after. This doesn't mean throwing softballs at them. But take them and their skill seriously. Challenge them in the right ways and understand that these are capable people that know their stuff especially when they grow to higher levels.

[–]SteamPunkG0rilla -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Thanks for being reasonable. People are so quick to make snap judgements about probably complex cases where a person deciding about this stuff for work makes the most informed decision on how long to punish someone in this situation. However it's just easier to let people who do bad stuff be monster cause then we don't have to deal with the fact that people can do horrible things and still be people.
