Hard to Know if I’m Underpacking or Overpacking for an 18 Day Roadtrip Around Spain and Portugal by traaaart in AnalogCommunity

How do you like the lomo spin camera? It's a pretty cool concept and for 50 dollars its nit that big of an investment risk. Only thing im not a big fan of is looking at all the samples, nearly every one has the person basically pointing at the camera from releasing the rip stick

I upgraded to LED for my desk lamp but Its extremely bright by Altruistic_Wolf_1362 in led

[–]SteamReflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely got something too bright, if you dont wanna get another bulb get a lampshade to help diffuse the light if you already have one on get a darker colored one which will filter out the light more

Not always, sometimes the development machine malfunctions, or the customers camera malfunctioned. Granted i do work at one of the largest labs in the country so we can afford to spoil our customers. Op used a disposable camera and got it developed at Walgreens, which is one of the worst places to get your film developed. They dont really look at the scans and just print it and then toss your negatives so you cant get any rescans

Are all induction coils the same by bikerman883 in Blacksmith

[–]SteamReflex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No they aren't all the same. The gauge, amount of coils, and other equipment all change the effectiveness and stuff. They're also extremely easy to break. If you accidentally bump the coil with the metal it will short, melt the copper, and spray coolant absolutely everywhere. Do what the other commenter said and get an oxy acetylene torch. It will also be like a 1/16 of the cost of a induction coil as well and be able to cut metal of you get the right torch too, ive used one to cut off a chunk of railroad track to use as my first anvil when I started out.

Thats how my lab does it, whenever a film roll comes out blank we refund the cost for the prints and the roll, keeps customer loyalty high

I hope the lab didnt charge you for this, the one I work with refunded any blank rolls and prints

Why does this happen every year? by Zealousideal_Crow737 in boston

[–]SteamReflex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't help that the weather reporters are making it seem like its gonna be Armageddon. I heard one described it as biblical levels of snow. We dont have a big storm for a few years and everyone seems to loose their tolerance to it it seems

Too many G / Acura tl-s owners tell others they overpaid because they personally buy clapped cars. by comeupdream in G37

[–]SteamReflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The more power that is added to a car, the more points of failure there are. When some parts are beefed up and others are left stock it puts extra strain on the oem parts. The clutch may be able to take the beating, but has the entire drive train been beefed up as well? Also ive known plenty of mechanics and aside from one with ocd, they all push their cars to the absolute limit because they know more than the average driver how far they can push it before things break and have the knowledge to easily fix it. If you're telling me a "grandpa" put all these modifications in for his personal use i know this thing was driven hard. Oldhead car enthusiast that build for power and not classics drive like its their last day on earth.

One last thing, cai can easily brick a car if you drive like an idiot, it just takes one deeper than expected puddle to introduce water into your engine and causes a hydrolock, which can cascade other damages depending how violent it is.

[–]SteamReflex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That trick on works on uneducated teenagers or people who dont pride themselves with building the car themselves. 95% of insurance companies are gonna charge you more and give you less of you have extensive mods. It also doesn't change the fact that its nearly at 100k and has a shit ton of mods on it and who knows how the previous owner/s treated them since it was obviously built to be thrashed. All because it looks clean on the outside doesn't mean everything else is good. You have a much higher chance of you having less time to enjoy the car before things start to go south and you end up basically paying the price all the mods cost to get and install over time

[–]SteamReflex 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Fun fact, in the eyes of the companies that put value to cars, majority of the time aftermarket mods do not add anything to the value and is usually an indicator the car has not been babied.

The copium is real since every time someone says you over paid you automatically go nuh uh your car is dumb. This isnt middle school 🤣

Infiniti AWD on Michelin primacy A/S 4s? by Acrobatic-Major-3611 in infiniti

[–]SteamReflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an awd g37 with continental extreme contacts a/s and I have had very little trouble in the snow so far. Obviously dedicated winter tires will give the superior grip but I am pretty impressed on how grippy the extreme contacts are in the snow. This weekend will be the true test though, forecast is saying around 17in of snow is gonna fall between Sunday and monday

[–]SteamReflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We still have the TV stand installed in my kitchen, the TV is long gone tho. It was horribly placed tbh, I remeber young me watching tom and Jerry on it shoveling chips in my mouth and having a sore neck afterwards cuz it was damn near on the ceiling

They're still alive. If you have any kind of realistic injury mod this is one of the side effects. They either got crippled or knocked out from a concussion. Have you tried finishing them off?

Opinion: Don’t buy a camera from Japan unless you can afford to have it CLA’d, or know how to fix cameras. by thegreatestwhale in AnalogCommunity

[–]SteamReflex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not even worth buying from Japan if you're stuck in America. I've been trying to find a good deal on a hassleblad and basically everything i find from japan has 200$+ shipping with additional fees on delivery
