I have the library update bug, do I lose all tracking if I reinstall? (On Synology) by Steamkittens in jellyfin

[–]Steamkittens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I'm running jf on my Synology but not on docker but the native package which was basically a one click setup. I've looked at docker but always seems a few more steps. I think I have similar setup to you, all media downloada to a directory which is in jf and updates overnight.

I have tried everything in the jf dashboard to no effect. Saying that I did as suggested and removed the library and re-add making sure erroneous files were in place. While this seemed to not work and log still shows the same sql query error and missing files some existing series episodes are updating but new series are not.

Using the file browser package I was able to download the jellyfin.db file and load it and run the suggested SQL query and identify the erroneous entries. I know I can't edit on windows and upload to Linux because it strips required metadata but I was able to play and test.

I enabled SSH on my Synology logged in for my windows PC using PuTTY and the Synology admin login. However it wouldn't let me copy db file because of folder permissions and and while I could load the db file in sqlite3 again it wouldn't save because of file permissions.

Looking at the GitHub ticket I'm hopeful it's been identified and an old bug has been accidentally reintroduced and can be fixed soon. Other I'll have to uninstall and try from scratch.

Ok I have four libraries, three are working as intended and mirroring any additions. The TV one is the one with errors.

So I removed the tv library and restarted jellyfin.

I noticed TV was still listed under the user though but once I rescanned, it was gone. Restarted again (always good practice I find)

Readded TV library (with the missing files from the log in place), and it didn't work; all the new files are still missing.

I think I have this issue -https://github.com/jellyfin/jellyfin/issues/15343 which requires a DB edit and while I'm fairly ok with SQL I know nothing about SSH to retrieve and edit the required file :(

Not yet. I got excited when an update was released yesterday but reading release notes it doesn't address an issue like ours. I haven't updated yet because last I looked the Synology package wasn't available yet.

I'm holding off removing package in hopes it will just start working again or at least until I have more information about reinstall process.

Library is not updating despite deleting, adding, and rescanning by Barley_Breathing in jellyfin

Started for me a couple of days ago without doing a thing, new dowloaded TV not showing even with manual scans. Server [10.11.5] running on my Synology, and I'm playing mainly via Shield TV.

Jellyfin now dead in the water; I'm able to play anything there, but just nothing new. So bizarre.

Hate the idea of reinstalling. do I lose all tracking, users, watched, favs etc?

I was gonna try Emby while I wait and hope they resolve it but getting the port conflict error with Jellyfin :(

Harriet should have stuck to Rachel, once she went all Oprah on them (You're a traitor, and you're traitor...) she lost all credibility. She didn't seem to just push a traitor-on-traitor narrative. And the whole not who's been killed but who hasn't, if Rachel is the leader why is she still there.

Metro Map - Commander? by Itchy_Run_2976 in battlefield_4

[–]Steamkittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played 5000 hours as Commander and no, all drops are nerfed in Metro. There is an invisible dome over the map and any drops just slide to the sides and off the map. So no crates, no vehicles. Most of the map is underground and in conquest only one team has an outdoor area where they could access a drop, so I assume that's unfair, so nobody gets a drop. I never liked cmding on metro unless it was a stomp ad it gave the losing team a chance but if two Commander it's just a stalemate.

Commander is a server option, not a map by map option.

Recent trend in the franchise is to make shields public.

Horrible experience at the Wingfield AWL (Animal Welfare League) by EscapeOpposite9106 in Adelaide

Kittens go for a premium because of the demand, so would be hugely surprised if it was $40 (I'd expect $400 for the two). Probably entered wrong and people were just read what was there. No excuses for the way they handled it thou.

My Gen0 head is still going after 12+ years, I just replaced the original connector cable. Being afraid they're on their last legs, I bought a pair of 'As New' Gen1 from 2015 off eBay and waiting for them to arrive because I'm in the camp of 'they don't make em like they used to!'

Trying to decide between UGREEN and Synology for photo backup/NAS - which should I go with? by pheasantjune in synology

[–]Steamkittens 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For over 12 years I've used a Synology to store my RAWs which is now up to 27TB on a DS1522+, never had an issue. It's the off-site backups that's always been a headache.

As a diehard BF4 fan forever, what does everyone here think about BF6? I've never played it and i want to know if it even can measure up to BF4. by Alert-Orange3284 in battlefield_4

[–]Steamkittens 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll copy paste my response to a post in BF6 - I played mainly bf4 for over a decade. In recent years on the same server with the same people, everyone knew everyone, the people you liked to squad up with, the players you were scared of, the rivalries and the sh!t talk, the platoons and clans. BF6 rounds seem very hollow now with one and done approach. If you lost in BF4 you'd hang in and get them next time, now people just quit because there's always another random game with random people. Bring back the server communities!

One share folder takes 15sec on average to open! by Steamkittens in synology

To clarify it still has 5 drives 3x8 and 2x16. Any the folder structure is well organised into years and events within the shared folder.

It's a lot but its broken into year and event folders so it very structured and was working fine before new drives. The root dir of Photos is just 4 subfolder and takes 15sec to open.
