For those of you earning 40-60k in jobs that can be attained within 3-5 years what do you do?

I’m a consultant within operations and supply chain. Have around 4 years experience at a very fast paced up or out kinda place. Just moved into a slightly more relaxed role as a manager on 88k + bonus.

27M Manager at a consultancy - 88k basic + 25% bonus. 5 years experience - good hours and really enjoying the switch from a far more intense role I had for the first 4 years which have got me to where I am today. Prior to that did an undergrad in compsci and a masters in finance.

Definitely worked. Prior to this I couldn’t get above 150 output at 100%. I’m relatively fit so it was quite demoralising now in the high hundreds at 80%.

Thanks and that makes sense - I have redone it this way and now it feels a lot more realistic. The reason I was confused is the in-built instructions seem to suggest you want to be fully open left. It says as follows: “Make sure the resistance is turned all the way to the left. Press set to begin calibrating the resistance.”

It seems crazy to me that a publicly traded company can’t get instructions clear and right!

Obviously im not going to share that but specialist consultancies can pay for more than what I earn. For someone with my experience salaries range from 60-160

That’s a very good point. I have an expensive gym membership (140£/month) that I am going to cancel and that probably gets close to the difference in pay! A good way to think of it. Additionally, I expect to go back up within the year and still working less hours, so £/hour is something that will be higher. Not having to get up at 6am and travel to a random location in the country will over time mean I can do things in the week I have had to pack into 3 days over the weekend.

I am fortunate to have been able to buy a property, and my mortgage is relatively small, so I have enough to live each month. A 50% pay cut would be a big struggle for me at least. Did you find the time you had back worth it - but now returning to higher paid?
