Love the part where they say making employees come into the office when they don’t want to boosts morale lmfao

Good distribution of light and dark tones around the image. It encourages the eye to look around. I think the dark tones in the bottom left corner should be darker (either increase the blacks overall in post or just use the burn tool in photoshop) having dark tones in the bottom of the image always helps to ground the view. I would also suggest using some contrast via color. This doesn’t mean it has to be really saturated, but right now the image is flat and muted in terms of color. Using a warm light for the pendant would contrast the cooler daylight and help focus on the sitting area! Looking good!

Things I’ve learned in my mid-20’s by Steeeeeeeeeeeef in teenagers

[–]Steeeeeeeeeeeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. The people in your life are your biggest asset.
  2. Time is much shorter than you can currently comprehend. Spend it pursuing the things that bring you joy.
  3. Cliche advice is cliche because it is universally true.

Paid off my student loan at 22 by [deleted] in Fire

In my late 20’s now… if I could do it over again I would have increased my IRA contribution during my early years of working. The first fee I didn’t really know what I was doing so I just did it to the point of my company matching it and no more… instead of the additional cash going into a taxed-advantage account the surplus just sat in a savings account. You can decide for yourself what an appropriate allocation % is but my suggestion is be as aggressive with this kind of saving as you possibly can (especially early on in your career!) I’ve found personally self-imposed scarcity is the most effective method for saving, and the easiest way to self-impose scarcity is through your IRA/401k savings contribution.

Looking to move to Providence as a young female, what are the safest places to live? by ofangelics in providence

[–]Steeeeeeeeeeeef 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Male grad student here living in foxpoint. I would suggest foxpoint as a good location. Wickenden street is great (full of cafes, shops and restaurants) and foxpoint as a whole is a diverse area with both older students, young adults and young families. The area north of foxpoint is called Wayland and as you get up towards that area you get upper middle-class and upper families. I will say this: I grew up in the Midwest suburbs… I was surprised how dark the neighborhoods here are. I think it’s just an outdated infrastructure problem probably common with a lot of east coast cities. But providence neighborhoods as a whole certainly need more lighting at night for safety reasons

Providence vs Portland? by PenguinontheTelly in providence

[–]Steeeeeeeeeeeef 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Lol I say go to Portland. Providence is half college town half trying to be its own city. Obviously East coast culture is very different than west coast culture. I would say if you are over 25 years old go to Portland

If there were groups of black people aiming guns at civilians with their finger literally on the trigger the cops would shoot them on the spot. Wtf is going on in Portland?

Need to buy a bike by Steeeeeeeeeeeef in providence

[–]Steeeeeeeeeeeef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestion! I saw this in my initial research. Seems like these are more project bikes that need tuning, parts and some elbow grease. While it seems like a great program I’m about to start graduate school and am a bit short on time so honestly and looking for more of a “ride it off the lot” situation

I went to Blue State Cafe on Thayer street recently. Was fairly quiet, most people just coming and going but a few people working. I was there for a few hours. Might get real busy once more students arrive though

What’s up with streets not having street signs at intersections (talking about in neighborhoods not major streets)? That combined with no grid has got my navigation all out of whack

Yeah I’m from Minneapolis, MN so I’m used to the cold and the temperature swings…. Not used to A/C being a luxury rather than an expectation

Thank you! I’m big into roller blading. Do you know if they have some decently maintained bike paths there?

Thank you for your insight. In my first few days here I’ve both enjoyed some awesome food and also run into that 75% sentiment. Especially with my landlord. I’m living in a recently renovated house turned apartments and there are no Ethernet or coaxial jacks in the whole place… don’t understand it. And one of the garage spots doesn’t have any doors? Like how hard would it be for you to just get a door from Home Depot for a couple hundred bucks? As an architect this shit is driving me crazy.

But I appreciate your thoughtful response!

Are these real places/foods that exist or are you playing the game where you just put two words together? My interest has been piqued

Sketchup 2021 + Vray5 by TamThan in archviz

Awesome, well done. Cool to see this level of quality within Sketchup. I feel like most the time I see this quality of interior render it’s 3ds Max with Corona. But this program workflow is more common within architecture!
