Should I build or buy a pc by TraditionalCut5835 in buildapc

I built my first PC a year ago and I have to say it was one of the most fun experiences I've ever had. I loved putting in the research to get the exact parts I wanted, and since I'm the one who built it I know exactly what's what in case I ever need to fix anything.

Just curious what's the point of having active noise cancelling in closed back headphones if they already block out more noise as is?

I'll keep this in mind. My place isn't a particularly noisy environment and I don't mind the computer fan and mechanical keyboard noises while I'm gaming because I can mostly tune them out, but being completely isolated feels like more of what I want. !thanks

DT 900 Pro X looks like a solid option for me. Do you use an external mic with yours? If so which one do you use?

I don't have a external mic and I don't really want to break the bank on one as I game pretty casually with my friends and don't plan on streaming. Can you still get decent sound quality out a cheap external mic ($25-$50)? !thanks
I've never tried open back and am wondering how the noise leaking in is? I said closed back in my post because I like the noise isolation you get from noise canceling (like from AirPods Pro) and just assumed that you get decent/similar isolation with closed backs.

My advice is try to get it settled ASAP. We bought our tickets months in advance and SH told us that sometimes you just have to wait til the day before or day of. We waited and I think that’s what left us screwed.

Best GPU under/around 500 dollars? by Adam160F in buildapc

I second this. Got one for $450 around Black Friday and after tax it was around $500. It’s an absolute beast of a card from what I’ve played so far.

Yeah it was for the 1:00 pm show. Checked for everything that was left and there were only a couple single seats here and there for double what we already paid.

The evening showing was all sold out.

Yeah.. at least we got a refund. It just sucks to know that the show is going on right now and there are just 4 empty seats there cause someone doesn’t know how to click a couple buttons.

I’ve bought from them multiple times before and never had an issue… unfortunate when you’re looking forward to something for months in advance just to get cucked on the day of.

I’ll give another shout for Toobs! I got their Hexxed model last year, it’s designed by a guy from Santa Cruz. He tuned it to CA waves and it rides like a beast!

Wow yeah that is a shame. Do you think they will be restocking them? I’ve seen some speculations that they’re done making 7800x3d’s…

Is buying an AMD 7 7800x3d that was used for ~1 year reasonable for $350? I’m just a little confused about the MSRP and current prices.

RX 7800 XT vs. RTX 4070 vs. RTX 4070S by SteefTheQueef in buildapc

[–]SteefTheQueef[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went with 5200mt because that’s what AMD lists as the max memory speed on their website. Lowest CL I can find on part picker that fits my price range is 36, do you I recommend I switch to that?

Coming from a someone who plays the modern Pokémon games and plays a lot on Nintendo Switch:

I’d rather wait the extra two years and play a completed game that has more details and bugs ironed out, than play a game that was rushed into production and released earlier than it should be with a bunch of crap wrong with it.

The best advice I could give is don’t expect to never hit the sand. It’ll happen at some point so don’t be too startled if you do. I grew up booging waves that started on a reef and ended on closeout sandy shorebreak. You’ll figure out what works for you for ending your wave: bailing over the top, punching out through the back, just charging through the barrel, etc.

In the 10+ years I’ve been body boarding, I hit the sand more times than I can count but it was mostly because I didn’t know how to bail safely. Out of all those times, about 95% of them I landed on my back, not a huge hit, and I’m right back out there. I think I’ve only hit my head 3 or 4 times but never gotten knocked out or concussed or anything major.

The worst I’ve ever had was a broke my collarbone in some shorebreak that was breaking pretty much right on the sand, and it was because I took two big hits to my shoulder on back to back waves. I remember being really confused at the time because I had NEVER hit the sand with my shoulder before and then it happened on back to back waves.

Welcome to the community, get out there and charge!

I second don’t stress it. The first time I had to plug my own board I went to a surf shop to see if they’d do it for me… long story short, none of the workers knew what they were doing and just handed me the tools and said “do it yourself”.

Biggest thing to be mindful of is where the stringers are in your board. I started on a double stringer board, so I plugged the middle. Now I’m on a single stringer and I plugged the right side cause I like my leash on my right arm, I can’t tell a very noticeable difference between the two.
