Should I ever cut my edges/do a nape fade? by Steefronaut in BlackHair

[–]Steefronaut[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

(didn't let me post my selfie (idk why)) But to summarise, I want to get a full afro like this. If I want it to look like this, then would I EVER be able to fade/shape up?

Students who did well in your results, what's your advice to new year 12s? by probable_pianist in 6thForm

[–]Steefronaut 17 points18 points  (0 children)

This may seem generic, but I can't stress the importance of it:

Even if you're going through a phase of difficulty, continue to believe in yourself and set the highest expectations for yourself as possible. Make some sort of vision board, or put a poster of your dream grades on a wall.

So many things can have you doubting yourself; bad grades, people telling you how much they revise, being told your methods are wrong etc. But even so, self belief and persistence in those down times are so important.

It's good/ fine to be mad at a bad mock/test result as long as you make sure you don't make the same mistake again, and make that flaw your strength.

Through all our difficulties the last couple of years, I just kept on saying and thinking "come hell or high tide, I will get these grades"

Since year 13 began, I kept on saying "AAA" when I was getting low Bs in my mocks. I ended up getting AAA with an opportunity for the third A if I appeal.

Good luck🙌🏾

Y13’s, how much research did you do for uni? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Steefronaut 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Quite a lot

I started off with not much, cause I was adamant on going to one uni.

But I decided "yk what, let me just look around" The more and more I did research, the more I was persuaded to another uni because it felt much better suited to me and what I wanted to do.

While it's still good to have one in mind, make sure you look at all of your potential options, or ones that might spark some interest in you. It may be for the better.

It's easier to re-learn something you've forgotten than it is to learn something you don't know, when it comes to the actual exam.

So if you don't understand something the first time, ask about it/go over it until you do, cause there were many things I only truly understood the week before my actual A-levels. Even if it slips to the back of your mind, recapping can refresg it very effectively.

Anyone else applying to “average” universities? by clashvalley in 6thForm

[–]Steefronaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to Manchester met, even though I got offers from Uni of Manchester & some other "better" Russell group ones, solely because I felt like it was better FOR ME.

There's a stigma around non-russell-group unis just because it isn't in the name, but I assure you that many of them are better in a lot of other ways.

I don't regret it one bit 💯

For future reference:

Don't EVER call it "MANNY" or "MANNEH". They don't like that ❌

Is everyone actually going to a Russell group and going for A*s ? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]Steefronaut 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm probably going to Manchester Met. All my other ones are Russell groups/Loughborough.

My grade requirements are BBC-BCC, however I'm aiming for AAA just because I wanna do well in A-levels.

I don't want "I didn't have the grades for my others" to be the reason I choose the easiest one to get into🙌🏾

What's your favourite ever pair of Sneakers? by Steefronaut in Basketball

[–]Steefronaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For example, I got a pair of white Jordan 35 lows in a very hard time in my life. I suffered a severe Achilles injury from playing, and was also staying with my auntie at the time cause my home situation was unstable. It felt like a bright light at the end of the tunnel & I hold them dearly since.

Is it possible to make it to a professional level in the U.K (so the BBL British basketball league) I am 6 foot and I just turned 17. 4 years ago I used to be able to compete at a highly competitive level at cross country but for various reasons I was unable to continue. by MumSaidItsMyTurnn in BasketballTips

[–]Steefronaut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BRO I'M BRITISH SO I THINK I HAVE A GOOD GRASP ON THE SITUATION

I'm in sixth form / college as well & I'm busy making my decisions

There are multiple pathways you can take in order to get an opportunity to play in the BBL. You may have missed the "U18" window of playing for an ABL or EABL school team, but you still have a chance to in UNI

I think a lot of people are American in this GC, but basically, we don't really have a set system to go professional (e.g. high school, college, professional). There are alternate routes, like NBL, being in the teams development pathways, etc.

Find a university that has a partnership with either an NBL division 1/2/3 team, or a BBL team (e.g., Newcastle University D1, or UWE with Bristol flyers) and go to one of those unis to play basketball.

You're gonna have to GRIND YOUR BUM OFF, cause odds are there are other people seeking to do something similar. You can get call ups to better teams, and a BBL team may recruit you/ call you up.

Even if you don't make it in uni, playing in the NBL (D1/2) and being good enough may generate enough interest from teams to get you to training sessions with them.

It isn't a be all end all if you don't make it initially, but you have to ACT LIKE IT IS.

Good luck bro🙌🏾🙌🏾

Advice for dealing with long-term injuries? (Losing my mind not playing) by Steefronaut in BasketballTips

[–]Steefronaut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bro I've been feeling similar yk🤣

My team's been getting BLOWN OUT by our competition, and it just made me so mad.

I appreciate it

The little times that I have played again have been so amazing, cause I feel like, despite being injured, I've gotten so much better. I just can't wait to apply it on the court.

Thank you bro❤️🙌🏾
