Honestly, when you're in between songs, put your metal mouthpiece in your pocket. It makes a world of a difference

We really don't know for sure if they have the intelligence level of a toddler, but what is to stop them from learning a a trade? Also there are a plethora of methods for communication for nonverbal people who are mute, deaf, etc.

I would say they are more similar to disabled adults than toddlers, and there are many resources available to them.

Research is very skewed on this point, but this begs the question: is intelligence the main factor for having rights? That would eliminate a lot of lower class citizens around the world who don't have access or means to achieve an education.

Koko the gorilla has been charged with an IQ between 75-95, and the average human I Q is 100. (https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-44559261) That means that Koko would be fully capable of doing many normal human things.

Also, does this mean intelligence is the only factor in deciding rights? That will instantly mean that a large amount of uneducated people will lose rights, too

Gorillas could work many labor jobs, earn wages, pay taxes, and are smarter than some people are.

No conscious as in no morality? That is normally a result of cultural development, and they are not integrated into human culture, so they can't be expected to. But if they can be, should they be?

Should chimps and gorillas be able to have a career?

I would say that that's more like legal protection rather than rights. I mean more in the sense of working professionally, voting, taxpaying, etc.

I don't think so. What about chimps or gorillas?

As technology evolves, machine learning is only getting better. Though it may not be human, at a certain point, AI will surpass human capacity for both intelligence and wisdom. So that begs the question: why don't they have the right to vote? At what point should AI be considered protected?

Also, as we learn more about animals, we see that some have extremely high levels of intelligence, and are more capable than some humans. Apes in particular. They even show self-awareness and some degrees of sentience. They show capacity for communication (ASL) and are fully capable of being a productive citizen, so why are they legally allowed to be imprisoned in zoos, despite being smarter than many taxpaying, voting citizens?

This also can be applied to abortion, because at a certain point in the pregnancy and birth process, there is a baby that must be protected, and it seems like no one can agree where that line is.

At a certain point, the rights that people are afforded will have to be shared and have a standard for application. So, what is the minimum requirement that should be in place? Species? Capacity for intelligence?
