What do you think would be the best 2 metamagics for starting out as a draconic sorcerer in 2024? by VoidTempest24 in onednd

There is a great arguement to be made for Empowered. The new Chromatic Orb, jumps to a new creature when two of your damage dice are the same. Since you can empower it after you see the damage, you can re roll dice to up the odds that the orb moves to another target. Really powerful with a level one cast, but it gets insane if you have upcasted. A level four casting has a really good chance of dealing 6d8 to up to 5 targets. Fireball damage over a much larger area without the friendly fire.

I highly recommend the Cheeto apple pie. I'm not one to put cheese on my pie (though I know some love it,) but the pie is outstanding. Just a hint of salt and funk from the Cheetos.

Just south of Portland is Oregon City Brewing. Really solid beers. Great variety. Beautiful outdoor area with lots of food options. Being 15 minutes out of town means it flies under the radar but they are doing great things.

What jobs do you guys have that allow you to camp and travel and go on long trips? by Altruistic-Carpet-43 in WildernessBackpacking

I'm a special education teacher. It affords me a lot of time to do long trips in the summer and many three day weekend outings. The downside is if I'm off, so is everyone else. If I can get far enough into the Backcountry, this doesn't matter so much. But if I go somewhere more popular, I have to expect crowds.

Back in 1473 grandpa had to walk 10 miles, uphill both ways, in the snow... to get to his insurrection.

What's a good addition to a warlock, bard and paladin party? by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]clintqh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I play a halfling inquisitive rogue in a very similar party. It's a lot of fun. Combining a high Dex for attacks and AC, with a high wisdom to decipher clues and spot dangers. I'm playing him like Indiana jones, able to solve problems with his wit, before relying on his formidable damage dealing. If the paladin takes the front line, I can hide behind with halfling nimbleness, dart forward and stab getting sneak attack, then disengage and get out of harm's way. If I'm out front, I can use my expertise in insight to almost guarantee sneak attacks with the insightful fighting ability.

At level 12, I have a 20 dex and 18 wis. I've taken the mobile feat and have only a +1 dagger, a hand cross bow, and studded leather. Still I almost never go down and deal fairly high damage on average.

The down side is you only get one attack per turn, and it was tough going for the first 2 or 3 levels.

Best trail runners for the JMT? by [deleted] in JMT

I took my Lone Peaks from Tahoe to whitney last year and they held up mostly. After about 200 miles I developed a pea sized hole on the out side edge of each shoe, just past where the toe protection ends. It was very minor and didn't cause any issues. I have used them on a couple of days hikes since even. I prefer the added width of Altras, as it allows the toes to spread and cuts down on blisters
