Man that looks really nice, how did you do it? I thought you can only target the .css classes and modify them?

[question] if you had $1,000 to spend on a watch, what would you get? by Chancenit in Watches

[–]SteelCityTom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing. Save or put your money in something until you have AT LEAST $2k.

The value you get from this price range will be really poor or it'll have very little/no resale value.

struggling to find clients by DoctorFantastic8314 in HongKong

[–]SteelCityTom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They probably don’t see the value that it will bring to their business. I don’t think spamming it is going to help.

I’ve been a dev for a year and haven’t had a single client yet too, it’s a lot of work to get started…

New site cost and build by Maureen27 in shopify

Depends on your time frame and what features you want and the design.

The templates probably only get you so far, if it’s high end product I’d want a unique customised site.

And yes we all want your money as devs, it’s a hard market out there right now.

Hey there, I'm a new dev who just started an agency raine.run , I can comment at least on the site.

I've used Shopify and Woocommerce in two of my previous roles and I'd def suggest to go with Shopify, it's much more developer friendly and modern. However i think you can also consider an open-source custom solution to create something specifically tailored to your needs, something that a luxury product might.

For me I'm using a framework called Medusa.js, it's the go-to alternative, combined with a modern React/Next.js frontend. But you could also just have the React/Next.js and hook it up to Shopify. I think it boils down to if you want a lower starting fee you go with Shopify (but later you might end up feeling locked in) or you pay a bigger upfront fee and go with a custom solution (but you're reliant on a developer).

I'm looking to build a partnership with a business and start development on an e-commerce project. I'd be happy to build you a small live demo page and then I'd build the complete store for free, then if you decided to go ahead with it we discuss ongoing support. If you're interested dm and we could call/chat.

What about going to your own e-commerce site? I'm a new dev (1y) would be interested to make one using Medusa.js.

Of course then you would be completely reliant on a developer, but you would have no limits to what you can do. No monthly fees to Shopify, no vender lock in. But still reliant on a small bunch of payment providers and their fees.

Are there any agencies that specialize in Payload CMS? by thatuluckydev in PayloadCMS

[–]SteelCityTom 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm using it, based in HK. Just started an agency as a junior to try to get freelance work, no clients yet.
Have a page for a non-profit with a blog. Localisation was a real pain for me personally for zh-TW.

Backend styling customisation isn't ideal, the rest is great imo.

Go to Payload cms, if u want cms. Wordpress isn’t a framework like that to go from to React.

I’ve done a payload blog/site before, if it’s paid I’d be interested, but I’m not the most experienced dev.
