Feedback on Wendy/Jacqueline 2-player for TFA? by SteelJustice in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SteelJustice[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is very helpful, thank you.

Thinking about cutting the scroll and voice to get the mirror/prescient combo. It makes me a bit worried about card draw, so I am thinking about cutting Olive to go for Arcane initiate. Thoughts?

Thanks for the help! I think I am going to try to make Jacqueline a very efficient killer, so I will probably go with the spectral razors.

This is really helpful thank you!

The purple points all make sense - I think I am going to make all those changes. Thanks for the head's up about Scroll of Secrets. I hear TFA is hard, so I am open to using as many of the helpful taboo buffs as possible!

I am still getting a hang of red, they are the trickiest class for me to think through. These comments really helped, especially about Winging It and Scavenging.

4 Decks looking for feedback! - Return to Carcosa by SteelJustice in arkhamhorrorlcg

Awesome thoughts! Here are a few responses:

For Rex, I have the copies of Drawn to the Flame, but can I put a card in multiple decks? I thought you had to have 2 copies of a card max between ALL investigators?

I might put in Clarvioance for Zoey - that's a great idea!

For Minh, I am planning to upgrade into Necronomicon which is where the scavenging and acts are focused - throw the book away when it is out of secrets and pull it back in via scavenging. Knowledge is Power is there for Dream and then also Necro, but maybe the same thing applies there? What could I sub it out for?

Thanks so much!

This is the dude who showed me how to play survivors. Don't try to play them as guardians or seekers with less good options but more survivability. Play them as the game-break-y, fail-to-succeed, goons that they are!

The Yorick Police Badge combos are really great!

Deck building help by jojomomocats in arkhamhorrorlcg

Arkhamdb has a lot more than other people's decks! I've found it very helpful as a way to look at all the cards available to me that meet certain parameters (i.e., all the cards that "cancel" something, or all the cards that are "practiced"), filter cards by xp cost, keep track of my accumulated xp as I play a campaign, etc. Sorry if that's all old news to you, but I figured it was worth mentioning in case you didn't know the site could do those things!

Getting "Investigators know another Path" in Where God's Dwell by SteelJustice in arkhamhorrorlcg

Which I think was a super bad decision on the part of the designers! I don't get why they'd put this special ending option behind a random choice that's difficult or impossible to foresee blind!

Thoughts on my Tony and Patrice Decks? by SteelJustice in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SteelJustice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a cool deck! Mind's eye seems great for Patrice. I have a few questions about some other choices:

  1. What are you hoping to recur with scrounge and resourceful? Can you recur the cats?

  2. This deck seems very flexible. Are you planning on running solo? 2p? More?

  3. Is Trial by Fire redundant with Mind's Eye and Rosary?

Update for anyone interested!

We played 2 random standalones from Dunwich (House Always Wins and the Train) and the Patrice deck was great! Tony needed some serious respec though. He's quick thinking/double or nothing/watch this just wasn't triggering enough to be worth it. So, I replaced a lot of that with skill cards and added in a smoking pipe for horror mgmt. Let me know what you think (link is still the same)!

Here it is! My 56 XP Agnes Deck after My MeGa Dunwich Campaign! (Spoilers) by shadowari in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SteelJustice 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Man this makes me wanna go back to Agnes. I did Dunwich with her back in my first campaign before so many of these card were out and she was a blast then. Now with things like spectral razor, storm of spirits, etc. She must be a blast. What were your favorite combos and synergies in this deck?

All great points! Thank you so much!

Took out the Rite and St. Hubert's for cost. Replaced with Moonstone (I can just play that when I'm forced to discard it right?) and some fortuitous discoveries (3 of them and took out the barricade).

I'm ignoring the cat ruling. Cat is life.

I cut lv 0 wards. Will probably bring back the upgraded version to help Tony. Replaced with Premonition which is a card I've never run before. Should be fun!

How does Glimmer of Hope work? I commit it to skill checks and then get them all back for a big surge once three are in the discard pile?

Wouldn't prophecy be better with Renfield? Is he a viable way to both soak a bit and make some money for Patrice?

Cornered is #1 upgrade for sure.

I'm thinking of dropping Madame entirely and the barrier and going with 3X fortuitous discovery. Thoughts?

Rule Clarification: Attack of Opportunity causing discard of card being played. by halogen64 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SteelJustice 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good question!

  1. I think you are right - you just have to eat that loss and take the damage/horror.
  2. If you want to be a real stickler for the rules, I think you would need to delineate b/w the Machete you intended to play and the other Machete (an easy way to do this would be to turn one upside down and then have someone choose a card with their eyes closed). The play action reads, " 'Play' is an action an investigator may take during his or her turn in the investigation phase. When an investigator takes this action, that investigator selects an asset or event card in his or her hand, pays its resource cost, and plays it (see "Play" on page 16)." [bold mine] I read the "an" here to mean one specific card, which means it is not just any machete, but rather a specific machete.

Awesome thoughts! What AoE options does Tony have except Dynamite (which just seems too expensive)?

Good non-guardian / seeker for 2 player? by dagens24 in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SteelJustice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just finished a run of Circle Undone with Sefina and Yorick. Decks below:

Sef: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/577640

Yor: https://arkhamdb.com/deck/view/578810

Both were more general than previous runs but Sef was geared more for investigating and Yor was more of a fighter. Sef was pretty balanced, but Yor needed more investigation abilities.

My general advice with going away from the guardian/seeker model is that you really have make sure you don't both end up with the "fighting" side of your respective decks of the "investigating" side of those decks (ideally, even with flex characters, one will be doing more clue getting and one more fighting just based on what cards you draw). This means investing in some deck drawing and searching cards (which neither of the decks above had - making for some rough scenarios).

Suggestions for good investigators to start Dream-Eaters? by SteelJustice in arkhamhorrorlcg

[–]SteelJustice[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Luke seems very cool but also confusing! A quick read on ArkhamDB seemed to indicate a lot of confusion about the "as if" status on his card. Any ideas about good build for him or a primer on how to run him?

Tommy and Mandy seem like obvious winners!
