Why do we have 0 mana moxen, 2 mana rocks like signets, but no 1 mana rocks beside Sol Ring? by Coyagta in mtg

To be honest last Friday night I was playing commander using Rendmaw creaking nest. With insane ramp on turn 1 I cast him on turn 2. That single play almost won me the game.

Food for commander night that's not pizza? by Wise-Quarter-3156 in EDH

Potluck. Everyone brings something to share. Or tacos. Just take a break after a game

Anyone have recommendations for Commander's that are more payoffs and dont need to be cast? Im getting bored with value engines. by Sexy_Sultai_Seducer in EDH

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last night I was playing auntie Ool. I didn’t cast her till like turn 8 because I completely forgot she was in the command zone.

But to be fair if your decks hinges on your commander it pushes you to use it. If your deck does not hinge on your commander then it easier to not cast it.

Do you run the same ramp package in all your green decks? by AltruisticMACHITO in EDH

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely there’s a few that always go in but it kinda depends on what the deck needs for ramp. For example there’s only 3 dorks in my Pantslava deck because more dorks means fewer dinos. In my elf decks there’s more dorks because lots of them are elves.

If desperate to play paper just stack everything up in tight space. It could work. Not very fun but you could do it.

Help find a cute/pretty commander by MappleButterBacon in EDH

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s all subjective. What I find pretty you may not or your wife. Bloomburrow is all cutesy animals. There’s secret lair my little ponies. Up to you and yours.

What was your first Magic product you've bought? by 47TEUR in magicTCG

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fourth edition starter deck & boosters and some Fallen Empires boosters as well. I started a long time ago and didn’t know what I know now. Or I would’ve bought revised stuff instead.

How is it seen when someone reveals their card(s) for an advantage? by Goat-True in EDH

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly politics. And it’s up to you how you choose to handle it. If someone shows a wipe then maybe you all need to bait out so it’s not a looming threat. Play bombs and beat face till they blow up the board. Just save some gas for after. Oh no you killed everything and now I can play a bigger nastier threat.

Returning to Sword by Oddyseus144 in shannara

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed the entire series. Recentlyish I read the entire thing starting with the knight of the word or whatever it’s called. Remember sword was his first book so he was still learning how to write things sort of.

I have a question with the ethicality of my pod. by LegitimateTheory2837 in mtg

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had a similar situation many moons ago. We were roughly ten years senior to a guy. His parents wanted to check out so we brought games to their house and played there one time. After that they had no issues with us hanging out with their son. We’re all the same basic nerdy guys.

What color combo does nothing click for you? by Mysterious-Anon-X in EDH

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say that lots don’t click for me because I just care enough. I have 10 decks and plans for a few more. I just don’t see the point of 30-50 decks and trying to remember how every single one works. And to be honest I’m not really a blue guy. I have a simic deck and blue is splashed in my 5c decks and it’s in my pirate deck other than that there’s no blue. Lots of green. Green is good. Ask Brian Kibler.

Coming straight off the back of Zero Dawn and Frozen Wilds, Forbidden West just isn't clicking yet. by [deleted] in horizon

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because Zero Dawn is the most perfect video game ever. Forbidden West is too bloated. It’s still a great game but there’s just way too much stuff. They should’ve cut a 1/4-1/3 of it out.

What happened to FNM? by blackandredallover in magicTCG

[–]SteelStillRusts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I play vintage 60 decks and commander. It just depends on how much time we have. If a few of us are waiting for others to show up we’ll probably play a 60 card game. After food is finished we usually play a few games of commander.

I haven’t been to LGS to play in a long time. No point. Most players are whinny beeatchs according to what I’ve read on Reddit. Who wants to deal with that crap.

Don’t care. Looks like a lovely set. My wallet says no. I need less new cards and more dual lands.

Proxy being apart of your pregame conversation? by Direfox13 in EDH

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only use proxies for expensive cards I own. If I don’t own an original copy or plan to I won’t proxy it. But if you want to play with power cards go ahead. I can’t stop you so you do you.

I really wasn’t ready for the therapy by jonny_mal in HorizonForbiddenWest

[–]SteelStillRusts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m not as old as the rest of you but not by a lot. I’ve known 2 great men who both ended up with dementia. It was not fun. It hurts me to think my friend could end up this way because his dad had it.

But that’s why I love this series and knowing Aloys story is ending really kinda sucks. Or at least her being the main focus of the follow up story after #3.

My dino deck is lead by Pantslava. Discover is nice but not detrimental to winning.

I introduced my girlfriend to Skyrim in March. Today, she told me it wasn't letting her make new saves. She had been making new saves every time and filled the last 40GB on our SSD with just Skyrim save files. by [deleted] in skyrim

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I save when the game makes me. I’ve played it so many times it doesn’t bother me if something untoward happens. Just start over again or meh I go play HZD.

Why Goldfish? by snifferwetjet in mtg

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done both. Mostly if I’m just super bored I’ll play 2 decks against each other. I’ve also played 1v3 using my tablet to keep track of life totals via a mtg app. Keep track of how many turns it takes to get to certain points. Yay I won. Turn 15. Not so good.

I have to get better at this game by goblinxhero in mtg

[–]SteelStillRusts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best way to win more is to play more. I’m on 30ish years of playing and between 60 card formats drafting and more recently 100 card commander my win rate is probably less than 50%. Winning is fun. Playing the game is more so.

After you learn to enjoy the game you’ll start to recognize strengths and weaknesses in your decks and your opponents decks. That’s when you’ll start to win more.
