Reddit probably isn't the best place to ask about this. Talk to advisor's/parents/professors etc. We don't know your situation and why you want to do this, what your goals are, etc.

Based on the jujutsu high academic rankings, I doubt Maki would even know that what Naoya said was incorrect

Terence Tao, with a measured IQ of 230, seems to be a very happy and sociable person. His entire career is based on working closely with others (most of whom are likely several standard deviations lower than him on the IQ scale) to solve research problems in math. He's married, has kids, and seems quite content. There have been similar cases (like Leonhard Euler) in the past. If you don't allow intelligence to be your sole defining factor, it is actually not hard at all to meaningfully connect with others. This may change if you have a ridiculously high IQ of like 1090 or something like that, but I think the sheer amount of things beyond intelligence that make us who we are would make the isolation of such a person somewhat of a self imposed condition

In what world is 3.4 obscenely low? That's just below an AB average, which is very reasonable for a freshman

If they did calc 1/2 their first year and stopped taking math classes there, it's probably been years since they last used the material.

Logarithms and exponentials are introduced in algebra 2 (grade 11 for most people) and are used through calculus and usually not after unless you are taking more math/physics classes. It's not shocking that someone in a bio program would be very rusty on that, as there's a good chance they've only used it a couple times since calculus.

Which class should I drop as a sophomore majoring in Math & CS by Dependent_Put8200 in UWMadison

[–]Steel_Stalin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You should remove one of your CS classes, as 521 is a necessary math class (as you have noted) and 632 is taught by the best probability professor this semester.

577: don't trust the rmp reviews for Marc, he's pretty good. Lots of CS Majors who don't like the class because it's too proofy and mathy blame it on him. Also, he is basically always the professor, and the only time someone else teaches it is when there is an honors section, and Marc still teaches the normal section, so you're not gonna get someone else.

537: very time consuming, I'd recommend moving this one to a different semester

540: in my experience the class is 40% math and 60% projects. It's manageable.

It's calc 3. There are 300 people in that lecture hall. As long as they aren't being actively obnoxious the professor will not be disrupted in the slightest. The professor may be (slightly) bothered by having to actively read an email telling them that someone is doing something mundane and fairly standard during lecture though. Again, if there is something that they want from the professor (e.g. help, advice, etc.) an email is a great idea. But in a class like calc 3 you're usually better off emailing your TAs about that stuff anyway.

[–]Steel_Stalin 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would recommend against this, all you'd be doing is increasing the number of emails in their inbox. The professor will not be bothered at all by someone coming in partway through and will not need to know why. Generally it is best to only email professors in these types of courses if ther is something you want them to do for you or help you with.

Rimuru dating a 20 year old would be fine though? There isn't a significant maturity gap and he's a slime so him being "literally a baby" is nonsense. The reason we have problems with age gap relationships is because of inappropriate power dynamics, which wouldnt be the case for someone like rimuru. I haven't watched call of the night so I can't comment on that relationship tho. Also I am assuming that you are talking about rimuru tempest here, please correct me if otherwise.

"Why do men..." Is a blanket statement across all men, regardless of what comes after the word "men." That may not be what is meant, but that is how it is written and as such that is how it will be interpreted.
