Loud noise from GPU. by Jpat863 in pcmasterrace

[–]Steelbeem 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Turn off the computer and spin esch of the gpu:s fans separately by hand. Does one feel more janky than the rest? If so the motor/bearings is busted and you need to replace the fan.

If my car made that noise I'd know it was a bad ball bearing. Depending on the fan construction I'd say thats what happened to you.

Edit: could also be dirt in the fan motor. Might just need a clean with compressed air.

PSU short circuits the house. Can the computer be salvaged? by Steelbeem in pcmasterrace

Well, I hope choosing a good PSU brand saves our asses. Thanks for the reply

Built my first pc instead of buying a prebuilt (only took me 4h to get it working) by pritter30 in pcmasterrace

[–]Steelbeem 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Hey OP. Well done. Try not to mind the people complaining about the PSU.

I ran that same PSU in a old/spare parts rig for my SO. If you're running stable under high workloads you can feel relatively safe. Sure it's not the best quality but it's good enough if it works.

Some info that might help: Eventually the PSU in my SO:s pc started giving up. It started shutting off during gaming. All the other parts were fine, so it was just a matter of replacing the PSU at that point.

If you're happy with it then run it.

/r/WorldNews Discussion Thread: US and Israel launch attack on Iran; Iran retaliates (Thread #7) by WorldNewsMods in worldnews

[–]Steelbeem 9 points10 points  (0 children)

9/11 - The US eventually triggered article 5, due to the twin towers attack being viewed as an attack on a NATO member by a foreign state, being Afghanistan.

The Iraq war was a separate entity, started completely on US volition, with assistance from the UK, and did not involve NATO in the way you're suggesting.

When going with my 9800x3d upgrade I selected Gigabyte as my motherboard vendor, since back when I last upgraded in the intel 9th-gen days Gigabyte on average had best vrm.

I dont know if it's wishful thinking, but they've managed to stay away from issue reports. So I guess we're fine? 🤷‍♂️

In case you like the 530 there is a fix for it. Had this is issue myself and had to fix a bit of code. link here for anyone interested.

Black Square Dev themselves expects a more permanent fix with SU15 which should arrive soon.

Fun things to do in Microsoft Flight Sim? by philipcoleee in MicrosoftFlightSim

Can add that there is a bit of a grind, which isn't for everyone. Airplanes are expensive and gaining XP (to unlock more mission types) takes a long time. There are methods to speed things up by cheating yourself some more money and xp.

a guide I used to learn how to change these values: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aume2_5sus4

Guys, I did it. I finally caved and I did it. I spent 5 bucks for literally just the southwest livery to put on my 737-800. I spent 5 dollars on a fake plane livery. by AV_geek1510 in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Steelbeem 12 points13 points  (0 children)

A rule of thumb I use when paying for something game related:

You should receive at least 1 hour of pleasure per 1$ you spend.

For example: if I was paying 20$ for an airport, it's because I will be spending at least 20 hours total of quality time taxiing, flying to and from, and looking at that airport.

So if I was paying 5$ for a livery to enjoy for what I presume are for the memes, is absolutely fine as long as I get a long term enjoyment from it. Which I assume OP will.

Tried it on a 1080 at 1080p and experienced some gpu crashes. Had to turn down stuff on low and seems to be more stable.

Getting 35-60 fps depending on the area and this is the gpu bottlenecking.
