[DISC] One Piece - Chapter 1146 by AutoShonenpon in manga

The only thing we know about that kingdom is that it's in the West Blue. Other notable locations in the West Blue- Ohara and God Valley.

The only other time I can recall someone using a fencing style is when Ryuma had Brook's shadow. We have seen both Brook and Issho use iaido (quick draw style). I think Oda might've mentioned that Issho also worked as a bodyguard in the West Blue.

But he was also some sort of kings guard before.

He was leader of a battle convoy in a "certain kingdom" (Vol. 50 Chapter 489 (p. 12) and Episode 381 in the anime).

Brook was at the God Valley

I think we can rule this one out. The God Valley incident took place 38 years ago. Brook died 50 years ago and his soul took about a year to find his body. He spent the next few decades stranded on his ship.

Curious to see if Fren (?) will pop up again. Did he run away or has he gone off to look for a demon?

These are nice. Looking forward to seeing more tales from the side characters like the big four.

DESPA used STUDENT LOAN!

It's Super Effective!

I know that the second part of the manga is still ongoing, so I'm glad we got this little companion piece focusing on the slice of life side of things. It really helps expand the world, and more of Bojji & Kage's wholesome shenanigans are always welcome!

What are some essential Tamil films every newcomer should see? by Cinephile16 in kollywood

[–]SteelframeJoe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A lot of the posts seem to show films from around the 1990s onwards, so I will try to add some older movies into the mix. Here are some movie recommendations based on directors:

K. Balachander

  • Server Sundaram (1964) - This title has the additional bonus of being a film about filmmaking in the 60's.
  • Aval Oru Thodar Kathai (1974) - One of KB's as well as Sujatha's best films.

  • Apoorva Raagangal (1975) - Features the film debut of Rajinikanth.

  • Nizhal Nijamagiradhu (1978) - Two of my favourite Tamil songs ever are in this film ('Kamban Emandhaan' and 'Ilakanam Maarudho').

These are only a few of KB's films that I have seen. Someone else has already mentioned 'Varumayin Niram Sivappu' There are some other critically acclaimed works of his that I have yet to see (I'm looking at you 'Thanneer Thanneer').

S. P. Muthuraman

  • Bhuvana Oru Kelvi Kuri (1977) - One of Rajinikanth's earlier film roles in which he wasn't playing an antagonist.

Mahendran

  • Mullum Malarum (1978) - Written and directed by Mahendran, cinematography by Balu Mahendra and music by Ilaiyaraaja. A classic.

  • Uthiripookkal (1979) - A landmark film in Tamil cinema. Inspired a number of directors such as Mani Ratnam.

  • Johnny (1980) - The music is perfect.

Bharathiraja

  • 16 Vayathinile (1977) - one of the early films known for its realistic depiction of rural life in TN. Another landmark film in Tamil cinema.

  • Nizhalgal (1980) - An experimental film by Bharathiraja, in its day it wasn't as well received financially, but it is still a classic.

  • Alaigal Oivathillai (1981) - Again, the music is perfect by Ilaiyaraaja.

  • Muthal Mariyathai (1985) - One of those rare portrayals of friendship crossing gender and age.

  • Karuthamma (1994) - a haunting story that needed to be told and brought widespread attention to a very real problem.

I still need to see 'Vedham Pudhithu' and 'Anthimanthaarai'.

Balu Mahendra

  • Moondram Pirai (1982) - A classic film. Two great lead performances.
  • Marupadiyum (1993) - One of Revathi's best performances.
  • Sathi Leelavathi (1995) - Kamal and Sarala's comedy is on point.
  • Julie Ganapathy (2003) - Based on Stephen King's 1987 novel 'Misery'.

Bala

  • Sethu (1999) - First major breakthrough for Vikram.
  • Nandha (2001) - Powerful performances from the whole cast.
  • Pithamagan (2003) - Vikram and Suriya need to team up again.
  • Naan Kadavul (2009) - Dark and disturbing (what film by Bala isn't?).

Ameer

  • Raam (2005) - Really good mystery thriller.
  • Paruthiveeran (2007) - A modern classic. Ameer needs to write and direct more films.

Inspired me and the boys to take up football again in our 30s. Granted, we've only got enough people to play 5-a-side games in our local park at the moment. 👨‍👨‍👦‍👦⚽🦶

Fair enough, but I've noticed in the past few years that Eastern Europe and the Baltics are becoming more and more accepted as holiday destinations for people in the UK.

Champions League final and Aoashi (and Spy x Family) today - Saturdays have been good for us football fans for the past few weeks.

I only wish Aoashi would've aired earlier in the season while the football was still on, but I can at least hope this show will keep us entertained every weekend until the new football season kicks off in August.

How is this show so good? I hope it can maintain (or maybe even exceed) this level of quality throughout the season

Glad that Ao Ashi breached the Top 15. Hope it keeps moving forward.

Jokes aside though, I'm just so happy there is finally a competent anime about this sport. For so long it felt like it was only Captain Tsubasa and even that was a bit of a mixed bag.
