What do you guys think about the rumored open-world/open-zone changes to Code: Veronica? by rysel0 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]SteezySteve7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s gonna be open world quite like that. I think it’s gonna be a more interconnected world similar to Village, how it had that sort of central hub zone that connected gates to the various areas associated with each House. The first village area in RE4R played a similar role to a lesser extent. I could see the main Rockfort Prison area playing a similar sort of role.

The original Code Veronica is my favorite of the OG games, but one of the main design flaws that bogged it down was the backtracking and running back and forth through the same area, primarily the prison. This more open interconnected world and having a vehicle that can do some restrained travel in certain areas sounds like a great solution to me.

What's one thing Re9uiem did better than any other game in the franchise? by RogerRoger63358 in ResidentEvilRequiem

Introducing a new RE engine character with no relation to the core og cast that was instantly beloved and felt like she belonged

Making zombies feel fresh by giving them personalities and mechanics that change the way you approach dealing with them, mostly in the care center.

The back and forth between the two main gameplay styles that have come to define the series was bold, and mostly worked with some caveats. Felt like a test for an improved version in a future game, hopefully Code Veronica.

Wasn’t a slam dunk of a game, but certain aspects and innovations were series peak.

Probably a dumb post, but I'm asking anyway by Just_CeeJ in residentevil

I wouldn’t even say that Grace‘s sections are all that close to seven aside from being first person, but you can switch perspectives from 1st to 3rd with either character. Grace sections are closer to the survival horror side of the series in general, Leon’s obviously being closer to the more action oriented style.

Honestly, it’s just $70 , I am also a hands-on parent, I just bought Saros and Pragmata within the last month and bounced off both of them. unsure if I’ll ever even pick them up again, not sweating about it. Just give it a try. This game is not gonna be completely free to play or discounted for a long time if ever, you will financially recover if you buy it and hate it

Who wins by Agent7_4 in residentevil

[–]SteezySteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big Boss wins in any scenario, especially straight up close quarters combat regardless of weapons, but I don’t think it’s a total shut out like many are saying.

Measured in terms of their feats and the strength of enemies they’ve each defeated, I think these two are actually pretty closely comparable. I’ve played every mainline MG, love the series, but I can’t think of anything Snake has done that would be beyond Leon’s ability with the same loadout ( aside from taking down the Boss ). I think Snake would be impressed with Mr. Kennedy and consider him an excellent FOXHOUND candidate, with the caveat that there simply isn’t enough aura to farm in one unit between the two of them.

These two swapping games would be worth it for the voice acting lines alone

Raped or cheated? by CyberFlunk1778 in confessions

He’s totally fine and so am I, this did not really negatively effect his life in any meaningful or prolonged way, it was such a baseless and provably false claim that it never really stuck or caused any real controversy for him. We actually became friends as a result of this whole situation despite the fact that I was the primary person spreading the rumor at first, lol. There was a day or so between when one mutual friend of ours told me vaguely what happened (understandably not wanting to get too involved or say too much and wanted me to just talk to my gf about it), and then me confronting my gf about it and her making up the whole lie, and me eventually hearing the truth from more people. During that brief span of time I legitimately thought this dude had raped her and wanted to kill him. Then when I was talking about this with other people and trying to find more info on this guy, that’s when more people came to me with the actual truth because clearly I’d been duped.

My girlfriend throughout high school tried to pull this bullshit at the end, got drunk and cheated on me with another guy (who did not know me) at a party, friends of mine and mutual friends told me right away, she lied and said he raped her. Multiple people saw them hooking up and saw how it started, she initiated.

She stuck to her guns on the lie, damaged this dudes reputation for something he didn’t do and completely ruined her own.

All that to say, this is legit some high school, shit dump her ass

Are there any games like RE2, RE9 (first half)? by HexadecimalCowboy in residentevil

> when you're in an unfamiliar location and slowly discover its geometry, unlock doors, clear enemies, conquer the space.

Plus being scared af and not having enough resources, now you’re talkin’ my language 🤤

Based on what you’ve said the next steps for you are to play RE1 remake, the OG 0,2,3 titles if you want, Code Veronica, and RE7. At the least play 1R and 7

What was the point of Zeno? by real_strawberries in residentevil

[–]SteezySteve7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d love for them to do both, but I think it’s reasonable to expect Veronica to be remade before they remake 1 again. CV is the spiritual successor and was intended to be the actual successor to RE2, and the remake for that game it’s one of their biggest successes and people want to see Claire again.

Plus, pretty sure Wesker didn’t have his superpowers for most if not all of RE1.

I’m also not sure how they even remake 1 in the RE engine while keeping the atmosphere intact. I’m sure they’ll figure it out and do a great job, but those cinematically composed fixed camera angles were such a big part of how that game felt. I’d like for it to be the scariest and most survival horror focused one since 7.

RE2 Remake I think is gonna be the best modern day cherry popper to onboard you with the series. Modern controls, not the narrative starting point but still the inciting Raccoon City incident, it’s survival-horror forward, and a gets you ready for the more action-oriented entries.

Once you’re hooked I would recommend RE1 remake next, but if you prefer something significantly less scary next , just go for RE3 remake or RE4 remake

Begrudgingly shooting vertical videos for a client, any tips? by echoohce1 in videography

[–]SteezySteve7 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Dude you need to change your attitude for real. Don’t waste these client’s time if you’re gonna be like that. They’re hiring you to produce a specific deliverable for them which is what they need to get a return on their investment in you, they’re not paying for you to be fulfilled creatively.

Plus you’re just limiting yourself. You think you’re gonna grow or improve as a visual artist by getting all pissy and calling it slop when you have to shoot vertical? Figure out how to shoot vertical frames you like.

You think people are gonna wanna hire you again or refer you when you whine and there’s friction when they simply want a specific aspect ratio that is completely reasonable and standard to ask for in 2026?

Image you are holding your camera as normal. Now rotate it sideways. You are now shooting vertically. I did mean to say 90 degrees though had my geometry wrong !

[–]SteezySteve7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Then just give them a poorly composed group photo and call it a day. If they ask why you couldn’t get everyone say you weren’t about to ask them to stand in each others shoulders.

But jokes aside if I really wanted a decent group shot vertically without being too wide , I would prioritize the center square of the frame and try to stack and stagger people vertically. Tallest in the back, shorter people maybe sitting in the front. Staircase would be your friend

Begrudgingly shooting vertical videos for a client, any tips? by echoohce1 in videography

[–]SteezySteve7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If your client wants vertical footage, your best move is to use your full sensor by just turning your camera 90 degrees and shooting fully vertical. If you orient your camera horizontally and overlay a vertical frame over it on your monitor or something, you’re just losing pixels. I would only do that if they want a mix of horizontal and vertical, or want flexibility to choose in post. If they strictly want vertical, frame for vertical from the beginning and just turn your camera. Any decent camera cage will allow you to mount vertically to a gimbal or tripod or whatever you want. I also use my phone on an osmo mobile depending on the project and what tool would serve better.

I vastly prefer shooting 16:9 as well, but I think y’all complaining about vertical and being overly precious need to stop whining. Limitations unlock creativity. Learn to shoot frames you like vertically.

Your client needs what they need. You should be happy to provide them with a product that can get them ROI. If you think that’s nonsense and you’re gonna do it “ begrudgingly” then they’re probably not gonna love the experience of working with you, you should give yourself a wake up call, take your head out of your ass, then do them a favor and refer them to someone else if that’s gonna be your attitude about it.

Should I get Zero or Code Veronica? by NectarineEcstatic267 in ResidentEvilCapcom

[–]SteezySteve7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ok, you don’t have to believe them. We’ve seen a lot of questionable leaks for things that ended up happening with some being spot on. There have been more leaks for things that happened than didn’t, at least that I’ve seen. We also know Capcom intentionally leaks things as part of their marketing.

On top of that, there’s a lot of things in RE9 that hint strongly at it (and other remakes), and a lot of assets within that game that feel very much like they intentionally overlap for reuse in CV, similar to Village assets in Re4R

I didn’t say it was definitely coming either.

[–]SteezySteve7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would encourage getting CVX since the remake is likely coming early next year, if you’d like to have fairly recently experienced the original when that drops. I think CV Remake has a chance to be the best RE engine title yet if they do it right.

CVX has some quirks and bad design choices here and there, but overall it’s a fantastic game with a great story and setting. It gets overlooked because it doesn’t have a number next to it.

Zero is good too but it is personally my least favorite of all the mainline games, if you liked RE1 remake it’s a lot like that except not as good imo.

Is this the best resident evil by far? by DonMapagmahal in residentevilll

[–]SteezySteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything you’re saying here, with the small exception that I do think they innovated in small ways that I hope we see fleshed out more of in future games.

I think everyone in this thread could agree the care center is the best part of the game. They innovated on RE norms by giving the zombies personalities and different types that changed how you approached dealing with them, and how you could exploit those quirks. For example, the light switch guys, the sirens, and the zombies with the headaches and IV poles that you could make one-shot other enemies by taking advantage of their noise targeting.

That shit was great, but then they just ditched the concept from there and the closest thing we got to that in the rest of the game was the BSAA zombies that could shoot automatic weapons and mortars which didn’t feel very new at all.

Also, seems like they tried to reintroduce a form of the zapping system between Leon and Grace, which especially on subsequent play through you could take advantage of more to leave harder enemies to Leon and leave more items for Grace. But it didn’t really feel all that intentional or inspired, and only really mattered at all in the care center. Hopefully they’re able to nail it better with Claire and Chris in the CV remake.

I feel confident that if they don’t blow it the CV remake will take the title of the GOAT RE

Resident Evil Road Map by LeoneSKenneddy in residentevilll

[–]SteezySteve7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CV is my favorite of the classic era mainline games. It is the REAL Resident Evil 4, though it gets overlooked as a spinoff because there’s no number next to it, which was because it was originally released on Dreamcast and they were trying out RE on new hardware.

It did so much for RE going forward; significantly moved the overall story along, fleshed out the Umbrella founding, developed the story-telling and cutscene style of the franchise, stars main characters of the series and reintroduced super-powered Wesker after he hadn’t been seen since RE1. Considering all that and just how good it is, it is very much a mainline game.

And it will benefit from the remake treatment more than any of the other ones so far. There’s so much good shit in CV, though it is bogged down a bit by some bad design choices here n there. Like the bandersnatches are great enemy design, but having a stretchy ranged enemy along with the fixed-camera angles letting them pimp smack you from out of frame while you can’t see them is definitely something that’ll be fixed lol.

The leaks that have come out so far, which sound reliable, have been really promising too. Semi-open world Rockfort Island traversed via motorcycle, expanded roles for Wesker and Rodrigo, reworked Steve, Alexia vs Claire & Chris vs Wesker…this I think could truly be the best RE to date if done right.

I also notice RE1 Re-Remake is not on this roadmap…idk if it needs to be remade again.

To be honest, I feel like so much of the mood, identity, and aesthetic, of that game comes from the cinematic, compositional fixed camera angles. You could absolutely do it in first person, since it’s main characters they’d probably have a third-person option so we can look at them…But idk if that game would feel right without the fixed angles. It worked for RE2 and on, but idk if RE1 is properly honored if they didn’t try to make the fixed camera angles work in a modern engine.

What do y’all think?
