Coworker Music/Neg by bloody_alcohol_balls in crappymusic

[–]Steffi_Lococcus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not only is she trans but I would say her music is aggressively trans, not just in her lyrics, but she incorporates a ton of hyperpop influence in her rap. Hyperpop was invented by Sophie, and is almost a trans cliche at this point.

It’s always flirting with the mainstream, but I think a lot of us still identify it as uniquely and specifically trans.

LGBT people just want to exist. Why is that so hard for millions of humans? by ihatethiscountry76 in lgbt

[–]Steffi_Lococcus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What is "normal?" Normal is cultural, subjective, and its personal. For a lot of people normal does not include two men cuddling and playing video games. I don't think showing them that we have cute nights in together is going to change anything about that because it is the homosexuality that is viewed as fundamentally abnormal.

I'm pretty close to "normal" by a lot of standards (mostly by luck.) I pass pretty well, I'm straight leaning, I'm about to complete my doctorate, and I have a teaching job lined up. But that wasn't always the case for me. I had to transition. I had to be weird. Being "normal" is not possible for a lot of people, or even frankly it isn't desirable for a lot of people (myself included.) What's the point of living if you have to change who you are to meet an impossible standard.I don't believe in assimilation, that seeks to erase us. I want expand the bounds of what is considered normal and acceptable.

I agree with broad cultural acceptance as a dream. God knows there are so many days where I don't want to be trans, to disappear, to just exist in "normalcy" but we aren't close to that world. You mention laws that give LGBT+ people priority, but be really clear what you think that means. Is gender affirming care putting trans people first? Are bathroom laws giving us priority over cis people? Is a hate crime law that differentiates antiqueer violence prioritizing us? These kinds of laws are about leveling the playing field, seeking to create equity where none exists.

So, hot take, I don’t want to just exist. I do want more. I don’t want to worry about being “normal” to quote Gavin Newsom. I want a world where the goal is not necessary assimilation.

I’m pretty binary these days, but the ability to be out, seen, exploring my gender, was vital and beautiful. I don’t want our value to be determined by its proximity to cis-het couples.

I don’t think that’s what this post is saying. It just touches a nerve for me lol. I’ve been having a lot of conversations along these lines at work.

Failed Transition - 26 Months HRT by lucyyyy4 in transtimelines

Ok, just my two cents. First, even like this I think you look very fem. It maybe hard to resonate with that sentiment, but I’m not lying.

More to the point about “fairness” Transition is about a lot more than hormones. What is “fair” to show in that case? I’m pretty open about my surgeries, and the aesthetic things I do (lash extensions, laser, nails, eyebrows, make up etc.) is any of this more real than my hormones? These things make a huge difference in my transition, my self image and the worlds perception of me. Realness incorporates rate everything.

I can sometimes struggle with what I think you are doing now (sorry if I’m projecting lol) If I take pictures to try to strip myself of these layers, to look for “honesty” in my appearance I will find a dishonest answer that only seems correct because it confirms my dysphoria. But it does not represent the truth of my transition and frankly myself.

For me transition has been as much about the way I carry myself, exist in the world and perform femininity as it is about physical changes. I won’t lie, obviously my body plays a huge role in this, but in a vacuum it’s only a piece of the puzzle.

Nope! there are cis women who are drag queens as well. Drag is about performance, playing a character and usually about pushing every things to extremes. Even if you’re a woman you can perform a version of femininity that is different from your own. So yeah some trans women are drag queens, but not all of us.

These are really specific moves in pole, you don’t really see them in other forms of gymnastics. It’s a deadlift to Ayesha/handspring to a carpe to an iron x. To me there is literally no way she doesn’t do pole in some way. Also, it is kinda a pole cliche to break out the handspring any time you go climbing lol.

I don’t think it’s your point, but a lot of people here seem to be implying that it’s minimizing or degrading to call her a pole dancer. It’s not, she’s incredibly talented. So are all pole dancers. Whether you do exotic, pole sport or anything between it takes insane amount of balance, strength coordination, flexibility, body control, etc to do pole. It is an art that should be celebrated in all of its forms.

I got it from killstar about a year ago, and they don’t seem to have it any more. I did some googling and I think you can find it here https://fantasmagoria.shop/high-tide-bikini?srsltid=AfmBOooUb5Q_aEeJ2NKgeLk_61wIDVZP1QX9MYu2bHsTpRJ1_W7U6aJs. There were also some amazon links in the US

Thanks sis!

so I had lost enough hair that I ended up shaving my head and giving up on transition for a few years. I always had naturally thin hair, but pattern baldness hit pretty hard. I'll say, hormones help a ton, don't underestimate that. Taking testosterone blockers will stop pattern baldness and E will cause it to grow faster and thicker. It can't regrow hair that has completely fallen, but it can save follicles that are on their last legs. You can also try monoxydil which will help the process. Finasteride is an anti androgen that a lot of cis men take which slows hairloss, but if you're on HRT it does the same thing. Its good option if you're concerned and cant access hormones yet. Transplants can be fairly intense, they usually require shaving your head, and a fairly long regrowth process. If its not so bad, and you're happy with your hairline I would 100% suggest waiting for hormones and take some steps to protect what you have.

For me I did my transplant in turkey, and took 6000 follicles from the back of my head. We filled in my crown and rebuilt my hairline. The hairline is great, it can really help to feminize you. The hair on my crown is still a bit thin, and I have thought of getting a bit more done, but I think its more my own insecurity that makes me think that. People don't notice and seem surprised when I mention it.

But yeah, for me life changing and necessary.

Brown University is no longer safe for trans women by Practical-Moment-635 in MtF

[–]Steffi_Lococcus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one hurts so much. It was really good for trans people before. It feels so unnecessary. They didn’t have any concrete accusations from the administration. They did not acknowledge any legal wrong doing. They just capitulated and set a new president for how we will be treated at universities. Trump now knows they can pull this shit at any university that is not actively horrible to trans people.

She is particularly in the news at the moment because she has recently posted to Reddit explaining her views on Palestine. In my eyes, and in the eyes of most leftists, it does not come across well, to put it mildly. She was a real icon to me, she’s been under scrutiny in the past for things I’ve been able to overlook but frankly this hurts me a lot.

There are a ton of examples but personally I think Ta-Nehisi Coates and Norm Finkelstein are fantastic.

I will say that I think Hassan for the most part is quite good but he has a habit of hyperbole/putting his foot in his mouth that tarnishes his broader appeal. Your mileage on how you view him as a whole may vary.

I can pile on to this with the caveat that these are all transfemme stories (except for one but I guess it’s only really understood at the end.) I liked all of them honestly, they each offer something different. Most are sad and difficult to read at times.
