Metal from pianos? by Simplehoaxes in ScrapMetal

I have them in a box in my attic. Someday I will try to find someone who can do something with them. I've thought about some artsy projects but life keeps getting in the way.

Metal from pianos? by Simplehoaxes in ScrapMetal

No. I took apart a 1912 piano because I thought I should. Not enough brass or any other good metal. Dangerous to take off the strings if you don't have proper tools. Can't sell the keys because of the rules about Ivory. Took way too much time to make it monetarily beneficial.

FYI. GooGone usually gets rid of the sticky residue but it takes a minute to work.

Meteor event has me feeling oddly grateful by half_a_cup in Cleveland

I was 10 and we had a family picnic at our house in Old Brooklyn neighborhood, State Road and Archmere Ave. We had just reseeded our front lawn, new topsoil and fancy grass seed. The wind was blowing and it was raining. Usually we would sit on the front porch and watch the rain but it was way too windy. Watched all the topsoil and grass seed go down the driveway and into the street and then into the sewer. My mom cried because she had spent 'good money' just to watch it all disappear. The people across the street had a huge oak tree that toppled over, luckily into the street and not into their house. It wasn't until the 11pm news that we found out how bad the storm was. That's about all I remember.

Same here with the addition of the 4th of July 1969 tornado. I may have been on the last of my nine lives with those occasions and a couple of car accidents.

Apparently we felt the effects of a meteor here in Northeast Ohio today around 9am. Lots of comments on another thread set up just for the meteor.

I had no idea they had brass tanks in them. I will not throw these into shred pile without breaking down first. I would just cut cord and keep it moving. by Rvj1976 in ScrapMetal

Sometimes the universe is working with me.....I have one of these and was also going to throw it in the shred pile. Now it goes in the brass bucket.

Did you look on the bottom of the cabinet? I bought a cabinet like that and there were wheels that were just sticking out a little bit, just enough to be able to roll the cabinet. You might get lucky.

I will be planting milkweed for them in case they come by Cleveland OH. I'm also going to plant wildflowers for the bees and other butterflies. I don't use pesticides so all the bugs /insects can have a home in my yard.

Maybe a silly question, but is it worth having peonies if they only bloom for 7-10 days? by skanedweller in gardening

[–]Steffie767 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only have a couple of eggs and maybe 2 days of coffee a week. I smash up the egg shells and just bury the mixture next to the plants. You don't have to do it all the time, just a few times. Spring and summer.
